I think Riot hinted some what.

The Problem with Brand in my experience is that he has a kit that works well when he has multiple targets. Bolstering his power to make him competitive mid lane, might make his support function too oppressive. (Also consider that supports have fewer opportunity costs of poking champions, because they really don't need to focus on pushing or farming)

The Answer that Riot hinted at was affecting his mana gains. Giving him a boost when he farms.

Yeah he actually desperately needs to be better at farming, more sustain, less dependent on spending mana to farm or get mana returns idk.

Also needs to be harder to poke out because his stuff is easy to dodge.

As for his power as a support, his passive can be retuned to give support brand less free damage.

He has over a 51% win rate at all ranks. I think he's fine. If anything they should be working on Leblanc and Syndra who are sitting at about 46%.

Are you looking at his winrate in mid or support?

He's not played in LCS as a mid and never has been. Picked once in the past 2 years and lost that game.

Solo queue doesn't matter.

Do you play Brand? Can you tell me with a straight face that he's worth playing as a mid?

If we're basing what champs need buffed off of whether or not they get played in the LCS then you're going to have a pretty unbalanced game. Not sure what you mean by solo queue doesn't matter? Unless you're in the LCS, which I doubt, then you wouldn't be on here baiting people into reading a post about how Brand needs buffed if solo queue didn't matter to you.

Brand was introduced as a midlaner in season 2 and has NEVER been strong enough for LCS. It's been like 5 years and there has never been a meta that favors him. LCS is a good indicator of how a champ fares in terms of team comps and meta.

Solo queue winrate doesn't mean he's in a good spot. He's not popular, so less people are trying him out. More of his play is from mains compared to the more popular champs. Also, his kit is very straightforward. Low skill floor. Not an especially high skill ceiling. So there isn't as much of a learning curve to hurt his winrate, but at the same time not enough potential for him to be a truly strong champion.

And as a Brand player, I find that most of his mid matchups suck.

So no, he's not fine and never has been.

I think as a mid laner brand has a number of disadvantages compared to other mages. He isn't irremovable from the lane as some other options, doesn't push as safely as others, and lacks roam potential. In addition, a dps-y mid-range mage that is reliant on skillshots is vulnerable to some of the more mobile, "I can't get him with skillshots" matchups.

This. And unfortunately mobile champs are very popular in solo queue. So he's not good in solo queue meta, nor is he good in an organized team meta which the LCS is indicative of, like if you are playing tryhard 5s you want to stick to that meta.

Not every champ can have a high skill ceiling. There has to be champs that new players find easier to play yet still fun. Like I said, you can't base it off of the LCS. The LCS is organised. The LCS players are all amazing. Solo queue is a chaotic blood bath.
