So did ardent recently get buffed?

As I was Looking around in the boards I noticed a huge amount of complaints. I didn't mind it at first but then I remembered "wait not long ago everybody was talking about how supports were useless" complaining on how tanks like are too squishy and enchanters were horrible. some people talking on how needed buffs (never underestimate that taric.) and all that. what did I miss that ended up making supports "the most played and most OP role" "controlling the whole game" "with so much utility" where not a while back everybody was saying support was "the least played,least impactful role that made you have to rely on the whole team" with "little to no utility in what they have" cause "their whole kit generally blocks one auto attack" (that last one specified for the whole thing. was also said about a lot as well)
