An issue with low elo Devourer

KRIXXLER··1 votes·594 views

With communication being an epidemic in lower elo's due to players not really knowing when to split/ team fight etc. Devourer is much weaker because by the time you have finished your sated the team is down 15 kills and you can't even push for drag because the enemy Warrior JGler like J4, Lee sin is already stupid strong. Yes you can argue that Devourer gains stacks on kills and assists but you are so much weaker that if you get counter ganked you are very likely to die. Anybody Plat and below find this to be an issue as well? People get very toxic once the team is behind 10 kills and they don't want to wait for the late game.

In contrast, I find that in lower elos (specifically silver) Devourer is the strongest jungle item.

Teams lack communication and hence don't coordinate to shut down the enemy jungler. Assuming the matchups aren't heavily one-sided (which, if they are the game is decided regardless of who you're picking) the devourer jungler gets stacks without being sufficiently pressured and once he gets sated has this huge item lead on anyone who doesn't have a lot more gold than him. He proceeds to carry fairly easily because the time to shut him down has passed.

Unless you're running a cinderhulk jungler that can keep the devourer cc'd (or just in general, your team has multiple hard cc threats) typically the sated devourer jungler does quite well. Which is why I always get worried when teams don't pick at least a couple tanks - in low elo if you don't have hard CC in your kit you're going to have a bad time against these guys.

I think you are missing my point. It becomes next to impossible to shut down a warrior jungler who gets fed early game because if you are trying to match his tempo and get your losing lane back up to speed, you are forced to gank on a champion who is supposed to be farming (WW,Nocturne, etc.) I guess it is a positive that you are not being counter jungled, allowing you to safely farm but every single lane is getting crushed in the process because there is so much early game pressure from warrior/runeglaive junglers. Yes this is how they are supposed to function but my point is, You cannot simply say" Hey guys, I need to farm for the first 15 minutes so just last hit until I arrive" This is not the reality of lower elo matches. Often I am doing my second buff camp and I hear " First blood, double kill " .... Then I have to waddle my fat nunu ass ( similar early game presence ) over and auto a couple of times and walk away an ENTIRE level behind just to satisfy the person who just pinged me 18 times for help. People are impatient and want to test themselves instead of knowing their limitations.

I cannot tell you how many games I've played in which we're already down 10 kills at 11 minutes into the game. It just happens.

Eh... if I jungle Shyvana, I don't just farm the jungle. If you gank lanes and actually put up pressure, not only does it force the enemy jungler to spend more time in lanes giving you free jungle farm, kills add to stacks. You can easily get sated in like 15 min if your team is decent and you get a few assists early. Basically at least at my level (bronze-silverish) play a devourer jungle like a fighter jungle. I ended up getting 5 dragons and killing the enemy nocturne solo, while tanking the dragon twice using this method.. we still lost though because our cait refused to come to teamfights and kept getting caught out trying to farm bot lane at the enemy inhib turret with no wards. LIke for some reason she refused to stop going bot solo until the inhib was dead... which never happened because the other team realized they could pressure more than one lane ><

My experience in low elo is that ganking usually puts me behind. I ping 4 times that I am omw and my ADC farms up until the point where I am autoing the enemy champion and by then they are just walking to their tower only taking minimal damage, burning no sums and leaving me behind in XP. When this happens on a devo jg, it is a nightmare. You would think that playing a devo jg would allow you to play a farm up / carry play style but it simply does NOT work. Why? The answer is simple. People in lower elo's don't know how to play safe because a lot of what makes a game on SR "safe" is things that come from experience like ward placement, map awareness. I have almost 3k games played and even I forget to look at the minimap sometimes or lose track during a 2v2. I am not saying I am better than everyone else. I am just simply stating what I am observing when I play a devourer jungler. It is very hit or miss. I want some consistency.

I'm in the high silver/low gold elo and it depends.

yes,

devourer sucks if your lanes can't take care of themselves

First you need to take a look at devour champions and need to realize devour is strong even before sated od course you got master yi and shyvana but you also have your udyrs and xin zhaos and even on champions like yi and shyvana the raw speed they have plus there ms steroids make ganking easy its not the elo if you have red buff on any devour jungle you should burn a flash or your not doing it right

Shyvana is a freak in the jungler category so... She is just strong all around but Yi definitely does not have strong pre 6 ganks or dmg. Try to 1v1 lee sin as master yi at lvl 6 and see what happens lol. Master yi needs sated before he is strong enough to be relevant because he is so squishy.
