Can we please get rid of the surrender option in ranked

The surrender option gives players a chance to give up, and it lets players think that it's okay to give up.

Also, players might do things that convince their team to surrender if the game isn't going their way: for example, intentional feeding or AFK. Without the surrender button, players would feel the need to play on no matter what, and they won't do things like AFK just to get their team to surrender faster. In addition, because of the surrender, many games end at 20 minutes because someone gives up instead of having fun 40 minute games with multiple comebacks. I think that one major thing that everyone likes to watch in esports are teams fighting to comeback. I think that we should emulate that in our own games instead of surrendering just because something doesn't go our way.

Even if there's no trolling, I don't like the give up mentality at all. I like playing through to the end and I think that that's the most fun part of League. I sometimes am playing in a fun game (everyone is friendly and our team is doing well), and I want that game to last forever and then someone surrenders.

Also can we stop a remake vote if the disconnected player comes back?

People should have an option to quit. Remember that wars had deserters and surrenders.

And the deserters were never looked up to as an honorable example.

In league, having the surrender option encourages players to desert (AFK or feed) to convince their team to surrender.

Besides this, it's just more fun trying to fight for a comeback rather than giving up.

Sometimes I'm playing a game and saying "oh this is going to be a fun game, let's keep playing" and then I see the sign "the enemy team has surrendered."

I never said it was an honorable example.

This isn't feudal Japan where honor was more important than life.

Well in real life wars people desert for legit, understandable reasons: -they don't support the war but were drafted against their will -their life is in danger etc.

There's no legit, understandable reason to quit a LoL game that you chose to queue up for. Here are some reasons people desert/surrender in league games: -they were upset they didn't get their primary role -they have somewhere else to go (imo if you don't have a whole hour of free time you shouldn't queue for LoL, especially not ranked)

Surrendering counts as not trying your best, imo. Trying your best would mean fighting to the end.

Beyond the fact that it's a game, not life or death?

Well yes, but even if 4 people agree to surrender, they're dragging the LP of the 5th player down, even though the 5th player wanted to continue playing.

And I just don't think it's a good idea to breed a give up mentality in people.

If you don't care about the game you're playing, please don't play ranked, just play normals.

Dota has no surrender option. Dota 2 has its own problems that league doesn't have. But at least Dota 2 players don't give up. I don't think I've ever heard the words "open mid" or "I'm afk if you guys don't vote surrender" in Dota 2.

The 5th player is dragging down the time of the four others.

Sometimes you wanna surrender. Sometimes you wanna keep playing. It's not only one or the other.

you obviously never played in high elo.

Let me tell you that losing 6 towers, being 2 30 versus diamond players under 20 min will NEVER end in victory. Its like having a broken leg and having no equipement versus the superbowl champions...

I personally very very rarely surrender a game. But when 2 people give up and trolls. then its already decided for you, whether you try. 4v5s has a 17% win rate and it requires a humongous amount of effort, and that is if someone of your team is even ahead. there are even worse situations too. So yea, the surrender option is useful. Even if QQ kids abuses it.

I dont mean to offend you, but if i was in bronze 5, even if my team was 0 40 i would think that i could win. but the game is VASTLY different in different elos. Even in silver 2 on my smurf, as a plat player, i know i cannot carry them all for these reasons.

Look at it from the other team's perspective.

If the enemy Vayne is 2/0/0 at 20 minutes when you surrender she won't get an S+ or a mastery token. If you let the game go on to 40 minutes and the Vayne is 15/0/3 with 400 cs, then she will get the S+.

If you're 100% sure you're going to lose and your team really wants to surrender, think of not surrendering as giving the enemy team a chance to get an S or S+.

You don't know how many games I was doing well and then the enemy surrendered and I get an A+ instead of an S.

well that invalid the original argument you were making.

you arent playing for the enemy to get good scores. Its different from giving the penta to the quadra guy. Actually, enemy teams get really bm and insulting once they are far ahead. They will usually never try to get these scores cause they are just celebrating the smack fest. These scores are also given depending on wards etc..Teams that are super ahead stops doing much of the obj control and map vision and just choke you slowly while you are still agonizing. Either way they will most likely not get their stuff the longer the game goes.

High elo players being that ahead would still win, while smack talking and bming after 30 more minutes of gameplay. These players in my book dont deserve their S for behavior like that. their score is not up to me if i surrender or not anyway. You play for your ability to win. Simple as that.

As i said before: I dont usually surrender, but it has its uses even if rage QQ kids abuses it.

Also you have to understand that in bronze people give up when the smallest thing doesn't go well.

Their jungler smited 1 minion in the mid lane? FF at 20 pls.

That's why I dislike the surrender option.

i understand. Its like that also in higher elo. immaturity doesnt have rankings lool.
