Ahri passive nerfs

-Essence Theft (Passive) healing changed to [3/5/9/18 at level 1/6/11/16] from [2 + (1x Level)*

That seems pretty fair. I'd like to see it in action, but I guess I can wait. I doubt the 'NERF AHRI' bandwagon will be pleased with just this, though.

Calling something a bandwagon doesn't make it less valid. She is the most popular midlaner in the entire game..while also being the highest winrate champion out of every single role in the entire game.

EDIT: Downvoted for literally stating facts. :( Check lolking. Them's the breaks. I'm not making this stuff up.

First one is true. Second one is false.

But anyway, people slap win rates on to all champions to make their opinions valid. 54 to me means they may need to scale back a small bit. 55-56+ is where it gets more obvious that something is up. Win rates also don't account for practically any outside factors, detrimental nor positive. It's simply whether they won the game or not.

Winrate is a huge indicator WHEN paired with pickrate and current meta.

Ahri is the most popular midlaner in the game.

But this is also worth noting.

She's been at just about this level of overwhelming success for around 5+ patches now. Since before Cinderhulk. Not even the tank meta harmed her ridiculous, overwhelming success.

SO i checked it, like you insisted, and that still doesn't prove the second one. She's not the highest? there's like 4 champs ahead of her.

And yeah, like I said, she doesn't need drastic nerfs. She can be scaled back without it being detrimental.

Why are there so many different win rate charts though? None of this seems actually cohesive when there's so much data that says differently from one another. Is this just in NA? There's a lot of information that's not being presented here.

I imagine they are calculated across different periods.

This is part of the reason I don't like winrates and charts. But anyway, point is, I'm not saying she doesn't not need nerfs, I just dont think she needs drastic changes. Like this is a pretty good nerf in itself, I'm actually thinking it's extremely appropriate. It nerfs her sustain at early levels while almost being as good as it was in the late game.

Meanwhile Amumu has sat at around 53%+ for about 3 seasons ... where is the nerf amumu bitching ?

Winrate alone is mostly irrelevant. That's 100% true.

The pickrate with winrate is what matters, though. And it turns out it says a whole lot.

He isn't very common at all compared to other junglers, and as such, the majority of the people playing him (as with most low-pickrate champions) are people with a whole lot of experience with them, leading to an artificially inflated winrate, regardless of their actual power.

You've probably noticed this already. I call it the "Heimerdinger Phenomenon", lol.
Heimerdinger was virtually unheard of, but sat at the #1 winrate for a long time...until people found out, and now there are a lot of people playing him. And - what do you know? - after many patches of being top 2-3 winrates, he started dropping below many others.

As a champion becomes massively popular, not only does their winrate artificially drop due to inexperienced players randomly trying the champion out, the winrate also drops as people figure out that champions' counterplay.

That's where the issue comes in.

Most popular midlaner in the game. Massive amount of experience for people to learn her counterplay. But she still wins most of the time. More than anyone else in the game, in fact. Then, you ask, okay - what about the people new to her deflating her winrate, then? Shouldn't that happen when her pickrate inflates?

Yeah, it should. Unless a champion gives way, way, way too much reward for the amount of risk incurred.

Ahri's experience compared to other midlaners is around rank 21-24 out of about 48. Literally average. So it's not because her players have a ton of experience. But check this interesting statistic out:

Ahri averages over 52% winrate on people playing their first 1-5 matches as her.

That means that she already wins most of the time when her player HAS NEVER PLAYED HER BEFORE. Why is there even an argument here? Sigh. Because when someone is the sexualized waifu foxgirl, of course a ton of mains will jump up to defend her and downvote you to oblivion, even when you're just stating her numbers.

I could say "Wow, Ahri has over a 54% winrate, that's crazy!" and get downvoted by Ahri mains, just because they don't want anything said that suggests their main might be a little bit way too powerful.

amumu can be killed, ahri not

It's a pretty fair nerf, im surprised by Riot. as 10 level, each minion is going to give you 5 base heal for you, it was 12. It really cuts her early sustain.

PiVoRx2 votes

Its not a nerf. Its one of those "stfu people" from riot that changes nothing. Like last riven "nerf". She needs her 9000 safety level destroyed.

It destroys her sustain wtf, how isn't this a nerf? It's over halving.

And? Her kit is so overloaded it wont even matter. Sustain is like the most meaningless thing they could nerf since SHE CANT BE EVEN TOUCHED.

So dont fucking cry about her sustain. You cry like a baby about her being overloaded, count sustain as a con. So, they're cutting her sustain, it makes her less overloaded, what don't you like about it?

You dont count Riven's ult missle speed as con, that's why this nerf was meaningless, but you can't say same thing for Ahri.

No, most of Ahri's sustain is based on the 9% AP scaling on the amount, which isn't mentioned in the notes. Losing 2-5 per minion, 6-7 minions in a wave, 20-30 hp less per passive proc. This will cost her 100-150 hp over the course of the laning phase, which is noteable but far from crushing.

I was certain Ahri had a high play rate because she has boobs and is a sexy fox succubus

It's interesting seeing champions like Ahri and Irelia get a little bit of spotlight on them, but it's quickly suppressed because of G&B's one track mind. I think these threads are before their time.

If I played those champions with the kind of mentality these downvoters have, then I would be praying Riot continues to ignore the community outcry about Riven and Vayne, because guess who would be on the chopping block next? Ahri would certainly be a strong candidate with those two out of the way.

There are few champions that are allowed to remain top tier picks throughout so many patches. The rest of us experience changes quite frequently. I see her in so many solo queue games, and she's on the winning team more often then not. I know people who barely play her, but still pull off amazing games as her. She's a bit problematic, and she is one of those champions that could use a few changes to bring her down to where the rest of the champions are. Nobody is proposing anything drastic.

People need to stop overreacting when someone brings up Ahri. Even a mild thread like this is getting downvotes, and that's ridiculous. I'm tired of the mindless downvoting anything with "nerf" and "Ahri" in the same sentence. You guys need to start being a little more honest with yourselves.
