Because veigar is such an often picked champion and totally owns her 100% of the time. Yeah...no.

I can see her work arround him but she will still have a serious disadvantage:

She can't use her ult recast when he's arround, the linair path she follows allows veigar to lead her straight to his combo.
Her entire kit requires her to be in veigars stun range
She get's a lot of her damage off from her auto attack so a stun with that duration makes her lose a lot of her damage

So lategame this is a 3 seconds stun every 8 seconds. That's pretty much game over for taliyah. So her only chance is getting an advantage in the early game. What actually can work decently. However I doubt it will be enouge. Even if she get's an advantage in lane she won't be able to handle the veigar on her own.

Her base damage is actually really high for a range mage. With 56 (most mages from the category start with 52). Her scaling base damage is even higher with 112 (what actually is the 2th highest base damage for a range champion in the game!!, the only range champion with a higher one is LB with 114)

95% of her damage still comes from her spells, I'm quite sure Riot doesn't really calculate mage's autoattack damage unless they're designed to do damage with it through AP, like Orianna

Meh, he's not uncommon but he's certainly not the most popular champ around.

Now if a new champion is completely countered by someone like a Zed or Yasuo, then they'd be screwed.

I mean, even without facing Veigar she just sucks. Like she's way too counterable. I actually grin when my lane opponent picks Taliyah cause I know I'll win lane.

Taliya is damn good btw, I won every game with her in my team and even when she fed hardcore she had the most damage in my team every single time. Her wall also provides tons of utility, she is good but probably hard to play.
