Pre-Season Changes for Supports?

I've seen the new jungle items as well the new Banner of Command (it's really great from the stats), as well, the new elixirs seem to be great too, but I'm wondering what the new season will bring for supports. Right now the Tank support meta is stomping the most utility based supports like Sona, Lulu, Janna, etc. They're great champions, but in ranked it's somewhat a problem, mostly if they're against strong cc based supports like Braum, Leona, Thresh, Blitz, etc.

I don't ask for counterplay, but it would be great if supports like those will get a chance to shine with new support items. One that is probably really needed is a support item that gives armor and magic resist for supports, since the utility supports are the squishiest ones in a game. There was already a idea to create Sighstones that give additional stats while upgrading it and that would be great! As well, how about more item paths for the Chalice? Right now we have either the defensive or offensive Chalice, and both of them have their benefits, but it would intresting!

If you want Armor or MR as a support...buy a fuc*ing Armor or MR item. You have all the choice in the world, ffs.

I don't see how useful it would be for a Lulu support to build a Sunfire cape.. same for Thornmails and Spirit Visage. Of course, my favorite items on supports are mostly Mikaels and Frozen heart, as well the locket is great too, But most utility based supports scale on ap to be effective, like Lulus shield and health bonus from her R, Jannas shield and heal, as well Sonas w and e powerchords that scale on AP. It forces to build either defensive or utility based, and that's something that's somewhat bothering. Tank supports don't need about that, since their only way to be effective is to build defensive.

I'm just wondering if there will be something new for utility based supports, since, why the hell should I build a thornmails on Janna..

If you somehow can't beat leona as janna or lulu, it's not the items. There's also literally nothing stopping people from going tank everyone at bot.

I'm not asking for items that can actually beat tank supports, I'm asking for new supports for utility based supports :/ The one that would give some armor and magic resist, was just a suggestion, since the only item that gives armor and magic resist right now is Guardian angel, and I think it's probably a bad choice on supports.

Right now the best ones for supports are mostly the Mikaels, since it gives a great amount of magic resist and it's great active, but we probably might need more items that gives helpful stat auras, since the locket only gives magic resist and health regen, and the only other aura item that actually supports allies is zekes herald, and from it's stats and recipe, it's probably one of the worst items right now for supports.

Zekes is one of the best items if you have an adc heavy comp. You could just build FH and some mr item and pow, you're semi tanky. They removed a great deal of auras because they were "hidden power" See soul Shroud, MM, emblem and sona to name a few removed.

I said most utility supports not all.

I can say that Sona and Jannas ults are really great, mostly for the chance to engage/disengage, but still, if I pick Sona as support in ranked, people automatically pick blitz/thresh because they're countering her very well. There were some better blitz players, some worse, but that's not what matters right now, I'mm just wondering if new items are coming for utility based supports.

I feel sad that this discussion is not doing that what I wanted to :/ That what I've posted on the first post were just ideas, and if you guys just disagree that tank supports are strong, that's alright, but it's not the point of this thread. Neither is what defensive items i should buy as support.

It's just that we create new support items that might fit to the new season or rework the current ones. I mean, wouldn't it be cool that supports could build enchantments for sighstones? Since it's a quite important item as support for vision, it takes also a item slot away for either defensive or offensive stats.
