Doran's Shield blocks 8 damage from single target spells

The recent changes to item 1054 made the 8 points of damage reduction also apply to single target spells.

My question is, how does that interact with various non-obvious champions, like:

Swain : Do Lazorbird (Decrepify) and Torment apply the damage reduction?

Udyr : Tiger stance's DoT.

Olaf : Reckless Swing's true damage should be irreducible. Is it?

Heimerdinger : Turret auto-attacks?

Lulu : Pix' Bolts.

Ahri : AFAIK, Foxfire's fires could as a single-target spell each.

And, moreover, who do you think will Doran's Shield be good against now as a starting item? For example, against certain casters in mid?

Lulu's damage is reduced for sure.

Olaf's Reckless Swings is not as True damage can never be reduced. Same thing with Noxian Guillotine.

I have no idea about the others.

For Olaf, my question was more aimed at: Did somebody test it yet?

No, but true damage cannot be reduced by any means (other than having a shield), so it shouldn't be reduced at all.

I know that it shouldn't work due to true damage being irreducible in theory.

The question of mine is: Was that implemented correctly?

Probably.

Ahri's W does count as single target spells, so each time it's hit it would be reduced. Both torment and decrepify are single target, but I'm not sure whether it'd be a flat 8 damage total against swain, or 8 damage reduced for each second.

But does the damage reduction apply per DoT, or per tick of a DoT.

It seems that the latter would be OP.

This is a strong nerf to Ryze early game, so thank you Rito.

it will be a decent buy on scaling midlaners i think, assuming they dont need dorans ring for mana regen.

Finally something to start with when going vs a Ryze

I have a feeling that Swain's Lazerbird, Torment, Lulu's passive, and Udyr's Tiger Stance Dot will not be reduced by Doran's Shield, and I feel like Swain in particular would be super weak if it did.

True damage is never reduced by damage reduction, so Olaf's Reckless Swing should not be affected.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but if I'm not mistaken Heimer's turrets currently count as auto attacks, so while they wouldn't be affected by the new single target spell reduction, it would still be affected by the reduction on auto attacks.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Ahri's Fox Fires do count as single target spells each.

I feel like the new Doran's Shield will be good more exclusively for top lane, as many of the champs this change affects is in matchups between melee tank champs against ranged mages with targetable spells so that the melee champs still have play in the matchup. This would be really good against Ryze and Vladimir in particular because their primary damage source is in a single target spell, but may also be good against champs with single target gapclosers like Irelia, Jax, and Maokai.
