Because Riot gave us too many ways to get free skins and now they lose money so have to charge us on something extra. We have chests and capsules and I'm sure some players rather than buying skins wait until they drop something for their favourite champ. Riot is a company and their #1 priority is earning money like every one else, so can you all stop complaining?

People who weren't going to spend money on skins to begin with haven't changed even if they've gotten some free skins in the process. People who pay money for skins they like are still paying pretty much the same amount of money for skins they like while there are small delays in spenditure if they get something they would have bought with RP out of a lootbox. Meanwhile, people who like to gamble are now buying lootboxes directly which is a source of income that was never present before. And not to mention those people that want the gemstone exclusive skins without a care for how much they cost are spending shitloads of money to get them (they can be bought for about $300 each on average).
