Why aren't people building wits end on ekko

Just curious why wits end is being overlooked on Ekko. If you engage, they will be at max stacks before both W and the ult, plus 25 reduced magic resist will allow him to knock squishes into negative resists with abyssal sceptor.

Frankly, because Riot fucked up on Ekko's damage output. Instead of making him deal solid sustained damage, thus making things like Wit's End and Nashor's Tooth appealing, he has really high burst damage, which favors items like Luden's Echo and Lich Bane more.

He was designed as a skirmisher, and so he can engage and disengage easily. He still would favour Luden and Lich more than Wits and Nashor.

Just because you duck in and out of a fight, it doesn't mean you can't be specialized for either DPS or burst damage. Most skirmisher-type champions have both, and one is more pronounced than the other.

And I'm not saying shifting some of his burst into DPS would make Nashor's/Wit's better, but it would make them viable options as opposed to how he is currently.

Hes an Assassin not a fighter

Yes, I know, but supposedly he was built as a skirmishing assassin, one that deals better sustained damage than straight burst because of his kit's utility load.

Except his burst numbers are a bit crazy right now.

He still deals less burst than other assassins.

True enough, even with his ultimate's kind of crazy base and scaling, there are assassins with stronger burst, and it takes less setup than his ult.

My only real issue with Ekko is how much slow and damage his passive does

might be good on bruiser ekko, but not assassin ekko

because item 3285 and item 3100 literally do everything better

the reason why is because he's as much a mage as he is a fighter and higher AP means more damage output overall. If you reduce their resists and increase his damage by 5% overall but lose 200 ap, how much has that reduced his damage output? a lot, and his high sustained damage allows him to duel tanks and fighters, though he doesn't want to constantly do so because they will typically outdo his close range damage

because ekko doesnt fight that long for wits end to pay off

what i usualy do is hit q jump in proc the passive and run away just to repeat the combo wits end would give me max 80 magic dmg and thats too little for its cost

I say you won't really be AA much as Ekko, making it pointless to get Wits End, which offers no AP. I'm not saying you will never use it, but by the time you could get it, you should be at the point if someone is actually letting you AA them WITHOUT hitting you back, you can buy w/e you want and win. By the time you can afford WE the opposing mid/top should have enough damage to kill you if you were AA them for the WE dmg/proc.

Wits end is one of the crappiest items atm, why build it? It's almost a troll item like rageblade.

nashor is not that bad if you want more damage over the mana sustain that morello gives, morello is also much cheaper and have better buildpat

I played around with it on Ekko earlier in an ARAM to a good effect. I don't troll but i try to make underused items viable.

Again this is ARAM mind you. Im pretty sure Sona was on my team which also helped the choice of going for AA. I have no real experince as Ekko so I just tried to play like a Bruiser, I did not really invest alot of runes or masteries in ap, and at the early game they didnt build any mr so i didnt feel like i had to build ap. I just waited for Sona to use her q and possibly e and then boom, I did E2AA and followed up with an Q and most of their team would backaway except the Zed who was a fairly decent player himself.

We ended up winning the game before 15 mins and I was starting on guinsoo's just to build him Hybrid since i have rune and mastery pages set up for hybrid penetration. I felt kind of similar to kayle but with all of the abilitys switched around or inverted to be honest but it was the most fun i have had with Ekko.

Sadly can not say about its performance in SR I imagine there are plenty of other options that maybe better for his late game. But in ARAM with Sona it was beast.
