Amount of skillshots hits required to hit for this to work:
0
Amount of range you have when you don't have skill shots:
less than if you had skillshots
Targeted abilities have the most 1 dimensional approaches because they can only be used in one way. If you getin range of them, you'll get hit, but if you don't you can't get hit. That's all there is to it. Stay out of range and she can't get kills, it's not hard if you have the slightest amount of ward coverage, the map awareness of someone past silver, or a mid kind enough to call mias.
700 range teleport and killing the ADC in 0.5 seconds, only allowing the ADC to get one single auto-attack because of the teleport.
Why are you trying to auto attack the katarina? That's like opposite of how you handle an assassin. The ADC's job isn't to deal damage, it's to not die, and then deal damage when safe as a secondary objective. If kat isn't chain ccd and dieing soon, you shouldn't be within flash + E distance of her, or any assassin for that matter.
This is true in teamfights, but its even more true in laning phase, which it looks like you're talking about. Too many people think this game is team death match and that you have to try to kill every enemy you see. Assassins counter ADCs. That is the job for their role. Stop trying to fight them, especiall early to mid game, that's their powerspike. If kat roams bot, you leave lane or hug tower if it's safe enough, although I would doubt that unless you had a jungler with you. Let your mid laner push and cs and take tower whle their mid lane assassin(katarina) is bot lane.
This puts her even further behind by denying her the kill she would have gotten if you stayed, and denying the cs she would have gotten if she stayed in lane. This also sets you back, but an ADC without kills still becomes a monster of consistent damage lategame. An assassin who doesn't get kills and control the mid game falls off really hard late game. Think of most assassins: kat, leblanc, zed, talon, akali. There's a general consensus that these champions fall off more than traditional mages or ADCs late game, but generally keep strong 1v1 potential.
Katarina has a bit of an exception because of the reset mechanic, but all your team has to do is play around that mechanic. Everyone talks about that time the kat got 1 kill and it turns into a free penta kill and it's bullshit. No one talks about all the other times where that kat didn't have an opening to get that first kill and contributed nothing more than a few Qs while the rest of the team 4v5d and got steamrolled.
People ignore kat's downsides because they aren't as flashy as her upsides. Play as kat against a competent team and you'll see how few openings they give you to be of any use. Don't blame your disorganization and inexperience on a subpar champion that is pretty much just a pubstomper.
