I saw an AP Gnar solo baron... How?? was his build good?

His Keystone was FoB, as far as i can remember he built Hextech GB > RBlade, wits end, blood thirster, and runaans hurricane. His runes were odd with about 7 different stats (Silver Player). He was doing some pretty insane damage but started out 1/5 in lane. I actually had to afk for about 5 minutes and he was still carrying the team 35 minutes in. It was pretty bizzare and I've been trying the build myself because I'm always up for new things. Thoughts?

On hit builds eat Baron's lunch. Lifesteal keeps you in the fight long enough to do it. I've done it with on hit Thresh, Braum, and new Shen. The problem is, itemizing to fight jungle monsters isn't always the best for dealing with champions, especially on the champs I just listed.

I believe it's his w that does the stacks 3 times and you do bonus damage equal to your so or something to that extent. So doesn't seem too far fetch about soloing baron!

Only his 3rd passive hit has AP scaling. Also Gnar is the squishiest champ in the game... Going with carry build is madness vs teams with CC or high burst.

Actually, mega gnar's ult also has ap scaling that is higher that the ability's ad scaling.

frevor does not affect baron. any champion can solo baron with enough lifesteal . its usually takes 2 lifesteal items to be able to outheal the barons damage.

His W's third hit does %health damage and scales off of AP so it's not really a shocker.
