Black Cleaver rework suggestion.

Black Cleaver Brutalizer + Phage + 438g (3100g) +200 Health +50 Attack Damage +10% Cooldown Reduction Unique: +10 armor penetration Passive: Dealing physical damage to an enemy champion reduces their armor by 5% for 4 seconds. This effect stacks up to 5 times. Unique – Rage: Basic attacks grant 20 movement speed for 2 seconds on hit. Minion, monster, and champion kills grant 60 movement speed for 2 seconds. The movement speed bonus is halved for ranged champions.

I'm actually keeping the stats the same, just giving it the Rage passive and giving it 100g extra for that.

The reason I'm making this suggestion is because BC's current component as a basic Ruby Crystal seems odd and a bit "thrown in there". With Phage, which is also built from Ruby Crystal, its components become 2 mid-tier items and look better.

Another reason is that even with the component items, the current BC is still relatively expensive, at 1263g. Compared to BT, which is 1150g.

And finally, Phage may be used more often if this gets in, since people who don't use Triforce would never build it.

Why propose a re-work to Cleaver? It's a perfectly fine item in it's current state that isn't really tipping to being game-breaking or useless.

Black Cleaver used to be easier to build, which was a problem. It allowed champions to snowball a lane with no chance of recovery, grabbing a component with trip back to base. Which was particularly problematic given the cost-efficiency of The Brutalizer, which is indisputably the most powerful AD item under 1,400 gold.

Having Black Cleaver lack a BF Sword/Giant's Belt/Needless delay and build out of Brutalizer gives it a significant edge over other top-tier items: so Riot tryed bringing it more in line by forcing a large combination cost.

You can't effortlessly transition 1 successful duel in top lane into a massive power advantage by constant Cleaver pieces, your opponent actually has a window of opportunity to get their footing back, allowing them a window to catch up in comparable gold value before you can push that final upgrade.

BT builds out of a B.F.Sword.

It would probably be used to much.

Black Cleaver was the dominant item at the start of season 3, where it pretty much defined who was good and who wasn't by how well champions could use Cleaver. A big part of that was the flat penetration wasn't unique so there was no draw-back in stacking cleavers, but still - building out of Phage and getting Phage's bonus would be a significant boost in the item's potency. You could easily push it over the edge with such a shift.
