any reason to play ranked right now?

Last season, if memory serves, there was an mmr reset right? So is there any reason to be playing ranked in the pre-season?

Just an honest question.

Your MMR does not get reset. Your rating gets reset. If I'm challenger in solo queue, I will be reset and still have challenger MMR. Wherever I place, I will still have challenger MMR and thus get 30+ lp per win and skip tiers up until high diamond.

There is no point in playing ranked right now unless you're wanting to improve your MMR for the soft reset. Unless you go on massive winning or losing streaks, your MMR will stay relatively the same. The only reason for playing ranked is if you find it more fun than normal games.

So if you're Silver 2 90 lp and you get to Silver 1 0 lp, probably nothing will change. But if you're Silver V and make it to Gold I, you'll probably get placed at least two tiers higher in your placement matches. It's not the ranking that matters, it's your MMR.

Right now, ranked is for pure fun.

Really the only reason to play League in the first place, though. Not like anything good has happened lately.

I don't see why they wouldn't reset it. It's the point of a season. Also, they didn't change really more than last year's change to supports.

Kind of the point to my question. If it's going to be reset, then why play ranked currently? Some people are saying it still affects your mmr and will help you place higher. Guess that was kind of my whole question, i should've worded it better :D
