Why is team builder not available until level 25?

I feel like this does nothing but create a terrible experience for new players. Blind normal games are really chaotic in champ select and most of the time, if someone wants a role more than you, they will take it by any means necessary, including sometimes afking in game just because they're pissy about not getting the role. Draft games aren't as chaotic, but aren't available right away, and to unlock them you need to own 16 champs which is SO HARD to get with ip unless you're buying really crappy cheap champs. I can understand the rule for draft, not wanting your entire champ pool banned away, but why tb?

Why are new players not allowed to queue up for team builder and learn their favourite champ? New players are exposed to an incredibly toxic environment in game already due to the fact that they're not as good as all the smurfs they get matched with and against, but teambuilder is a place to try new things and learn. The only reason I even use teambuilder is to try new champs or new builds. If I wanted to take it seriously, I would queue into draft or ranked, where there are bans.

It just doesn't make sense to take this away from new players. What's the reasoning behind it?

Pretty sure because of matchmakeing. below 30 is already a compareable small player pool, and teambuilder aswell. If a part of the low lvls now goes to teambuilder, lowlvl matchmakeing would get even worse(if that is actually possible), and the low lvls in teambuilder would nearly always face high lvl opponents or wait limke an hour to find a game.

you have a point, wasn't thinking about that

I concur. It's stupid.

They said that new players would probably take champions into roles that they didn't belong, which would be frustrating for them when they constantly got kicked and when they failed in that role.

possibly, but they do the same thing in non tb games lol

No reason to complain about it now, when the new champion select hits in 6.1 Team Builder will be a ghost town and eventually removed if Riot notices that no ones using it anymore. Maybe Riot are planning to remove it anyway.

hopefully with the new champ select they address some of the issues with this sort of thing. since i've been playing with low level friends more recently i'm remembering how awful the experience is for new players.

Well now you'll get a selection of roles you want to play or just be lazy and hit "Fill" for any role and you pick your champion that you want and go go go, makes people comfortable in what they like to play and low level players will just do whatever they want. If Riot keeps Blind mode as it is then new players will most likely just stick to that until they want to understand how Draft Pick works.

am i the only one that kind of hopes draft mode gets left in the game? i like communicating with my team instead of using an automated system to tell them what i want to play.

You can still talk in the lobby like Draft, when you join it lets you pick a champion to tell your team what your champion might be this game so you or others can pick around it. You still get a lot of time deciding a team composition and getting first picks to trade. Whether or not the community will use this is not up to Riot but if people are considerate of their team then yes you can still communicate before the game starts.

good to hear. does that mean everyone picks their champ all at once, or will you still have strategic picking and counter picking? sorry you don't have to answer all my questions if you don't want to i just haven't read a lot about the new features.

No, you pick a champion that you don't actually get but it lets your team know what you might play. When the real picking starts the last 3 players in the list get 1 ban each then you'll pick a champion each from top to bottom. If your champion that you told your team you may want to play gets banned then you can't pick it. The system doesn't let you play whatever champion you want it just lets you play what role you want so no one argues about getting left with Support for example.

cool, that sounds really useful actually. thanks! :)

Because barely anyone isn't level 30. It takes forever to get into games in low level team builder.
