How to Deal with Soraka?

I usually don't see her played, but when I do, it seems like the game is already 'gg' because it I can't out-trade my laner whenever they go to fight me, and I can't focus her either because then I get massacred by said ad, or the jungler comes in and destroys us. It feels to be impossible because the second I get into the lane, the ad attacks me, and I have to either back or run away. Even if I'm winning in cs, which is usually the case because they ignore farm to attack me, it doesn't matter because they usually end up killing my support, or killing me. In addition, I can't stop dives because Soraka is always in the background healing the person who is taking turret aggro. I don't want to have to waste a ban on her when I feel there are more menacing champions to have to deal with, such as Xin Zhao, Zed, Tahm Kench, etc. Is there any way I can effectively win, or any method I can use to punish them for being so aggressive? They almost always like to be on the outside of my turret, but sometimes my jungler doesn't gank, so they aren't a reliable source of help in my eyes. Obviously, not dying works as I will hold the gold lead in cs, but that's virtually impossible if the Xin Zhao, or whatever the jungler may be, comes in and is able to run past my turret thanks to Soraka healing him a bunch.

If her ADC sucks then she will suck too. Focus her, she's made of paper.

Soraka main here. You have several options depending on what kind of comp you have.

If you have a sustain or disengage support (Janna, another Soraka, etc.), just farm. Soraka can't really enable hard ganks, so just keep an eye on the jungle and wait for laning phase to end.

If you have a poke or caster engage support (Sona, Fiddlesticks, Morgana, etc.) then you poke hard early while her sustain is weak and punish her with hard engage when she goes forward to starcall. Dodging her Q is essential, because if she lands a bunch then you have no real pressure.

If you have a tank or engage support (Sion, Braum, Leona, etc.) then you have a rougher time. If your ADC can spare poke to force Soraka forward to Starcall, then try to hard engage, you can score a kill on Soraka.

In any case, you can always just pull back and farm the lane. She's not going to force major plays, so it really comes down to whether you can avoid getting into trades with the enemy ADC. Remember: She doesn't scale well into teamfights, and will be even worse after her mini-rework in 6.5, so as long as you don't lose lane, you'll be okay.

If you are ap support, morellos, if you are ad get that armor pierce item, tell team to focus soraka, then adc (unless tanks are on you), if in lane focus adc when they back off focus soraka, etc etc

Commit to engages, don't go for small trades. In a drawn-out fight, try to kill Soraka first- the longer she stays alive in a fight, the more it favors her team.

the key to winning against a soraka is very simple. you always poke her instead of the adc. get her low and dodge her Q to keep her low. due to her Q nerfs she now has to put herself at risk quite a bit to land a Q which is still very easy to dodge. if you all in the adc you will lose most of the time since her biggest strength is healing. sometimes you all-in raka, and sometimes you get her low with small trades and poke. it just depends on the matchup.

hard engage and super burst also prevents her to out heal the dmg.

Play anyone with strong engage if support.

Strong engage, if they play super passive just roam.
