Why do YOU play ranked!

BlackFlux··2 votes·1,182 views

No. really. I Don't care about it. does that even give extra IP? Does it give small %store champion discounts? and on a related now how toxic do the people become. I got to 30 like two or three days ago but I have played ranked in an FPS. now I only do quick play. I have no care for a title,i haven't even done a placement match yet and I don't really intend to...but! That just makes me wonder why you try to climb in ranks...

... really. is there any perk? apart from spending about a year just for bragging rights with your general premade people. that's all I can think of. no offense to you. I know on one of LOL's 'did you know' tabs there was something about a restaurant giving discounts to people in ranked but I have no intention on going to china. Or anywhere out of state or probably the country just to do something I could do at home at any time.

I play ranked because OCE has no normal draft and I don't like blind pick. That's the only reason.

Well, there is always Flex Queue for casual play and practice.

I play ranked flex as my new "normal queue". Go in, mute everyone (as like 80% of the people who play it are toxic 14 yr olds who threaten to rape/murder your family if you don't help them dive into a 2v5), and play/try out any characters who I'm thinking about using in solo queue. While it may not be "nice" to do stuff like that, a) I got m7 karthus off it and b) I sorta stopped actively caring about the "feelings" of the other players on here after the hundreds of games in which I've had to report teammates.

Sense of accomplishment i guess. Also normals matchmaking is dreadful

I play to get gold, just to get the yearly Victorious Skin, hopefully its a mid laner this year.

Since it sounds like OP's probably unaware...

@OP - Every year, Riot makes a skin for some champion, called Victorious X (like Victorious Maokai last year). If you get Gold 5 rank or higher, you get this skin for free. If you don't own the champion, you also get the champion for free. This is honestly why I play ranked (outside of when friends invite me)- I hope each year that it's a champion I don't own yet, so that I'll save some IP, lol.

Neat. I know there are 10 placement matches but I HIGHLY doubt it would just place me in gold and I can just never touch it again for a free champion skin. even then I don't want to try and survive the wave of toxic 14 year olds who think they can just be pro for like 4 hours of matches then get the lowest bronze. I am FAR from a pro,and I would consider myself bad in several of roles. hey,the ONLY jungler I know how to play is Amumu. the guy with AOE max HP damage. basically as basic as it gets. I don't even own an ADC cause most of the good ones are like 6300 IP so I generally have to rely on the free ADCs like MissFortune and KogMaw. I hope to get Lucian cause I got his shard(so with what I got It will be like 5K IP unless I get key frags and get a free champ shard but that's both RNG from the chest and the broken RNG of the keys, which I need two to get the useable product

I honestly just tune the toxic kids out. Also I see a good amount of toxcity in normals as well. I do agree you should get better before you dive into rank, but it really isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

One piece of advice: until you get to the very top of the game (like the best 0.0001% of players), all champs are valid. Some might be slightly stronger than Riot wants them to be, and they'll get nerfed. But for people like you and me, it's all about how much effort you put into learning the champion and the game, which is much easier to do on champs you love playing rather than champions that are currently considered strong (and might not be strong next patch). There's nothing wrong with playing 450 IP champions. :)

So instead of saving up for someone like Jhin (who is currently strong but you didn't mention being super excited about), I'd recommend trying out every champion when it's available on a free week. If you have fun playing a free week champion for like 5 games even when you lose, then that's a good champ to save up for.

Bragging rights lol.

I play ranked for the dream of one day becoming pro. I aim for the moon, but if I miss I will still be among the stars.

Suffocating in empty space.

I've played unranked for like 3-4 years before going in. Now I play both normal draft and ranked. Normal when i want to chill. Ranked when i want more intense games. Hexakill when i want as much gold as everyone else.

The higher i climb, the funnier it becomes. Your teammates get better and better, you do get better and better too, and you can actually be impressed or learn from opposing plays (real plays, not "oh okay that champ is too OP to be fought at lvl X i shouldn't have tried that").

And to see how far i can rank in the server's % tier too. No point in hoping for rank 1, but climbing higher than 5% is already quite satisfying, and since you can always try a little more...

And to see how far i can climb with the champs i like without spamming the OP stuff. It's usually nice to win against the broken fotm.

i dont

not worth the extra frustration

and im like 99.99% sure im not diamond (tho im pretty sure im gold at the very worst) so meh.

I have a good enough time and competitive games in my normals. My normal games are all over the place but i have a high gold rating normal elo, and am very often the only non border player in the game
