If Cait can't abuse Runaans, why can Twitch?
title.
title.
What are you talking about? Runaans on cait made it so her headshot passive would get proc'd with less actual auto attacks. It was legit unintentional. Runaans passive is intended to include on-hit effects as is, which is why twitch's ult works with it. It would be illogical and unfair to make his ult an exception to the passive while on-hit effects still proc for others.
He is refering to the whole "Runaans DMG is additive to his ult"
So Runaans does like 40% dmg right? Twitch ult that isnt hitting the first guy does like 80%?
What happens is that his Piercing shots + Runaans shots deal 120% DMG to the first guy and 100% to the next guy it hits.
Instead of the "it deals 40% of that 80%" so effectively 32% DMG
And in a blink of an eye your entire team is gone unless you have a 980 Armor Rammus or Malphite
And in a blink of an eye your entire team is gone unless you have a 980 Armor Rammus or Malphite
Twitch buys Lord Dominik's and they're gone too
I don't think that's how it works.
Hurricane fires two bolts that deal 40% damage to two nearby targets. This means that if you are in range of Twitch's ult and standing behind his primary target, you'll take 80% damage from his ult penetration and 40% damage from a Hurricane bolt for a total of 120% damage.
It's a weird interaction, but Twitch is still getting exactly the intended amount of bonus damage from Hurricane: 80% damage on attack split between two nearby targets. Cait used to get this bonus and the additional perk of getting her passive 200%+ damage auto attack twice as frequently, hence why she was an actual abuser of this item.
What do you mean by you don't think that this is how it works you just told me the exact same thing I told you (unless I read it wrong)
So Twitch hits Target A with 100% DMG and no Runaans shots Target B wich sits behind Target A will take 80% DMG + 40% Runaans shot wich equals to 120% DMG
That piercing thing and Runaans shouldn't add together, it just shouldn't. That is more of an abuse than Cait's thing was.
Either make it: A) A Runaans shot doesn't count when the target got pierced by the same auto attack (so 80/60% DMG) B) The piercing auto does the same DMG Runaans would do with a fresh 100% DMG auto attack but doesn't add with the Runaans shot (so 40% DMG)
Him getting his Passive off on 3 ppl is synergy enough
What happens is that Runaans shots deal 120% DMG to the first guy and 100% to the next guy it hits.
You said it backwards in your first post.
But no, you are absolutely wrong about this being abuse. Runaan's Hurricane is intended to deal 40% damage to a nearby target, and Twitch's ult is intended to deal 80% damage to a target behind him. Overall, Twitch is getting exactly the intended amount of extra damage from these combined bonuses.
Base auto attack 100% damage + 80% + 60% etc. from penetration + 40% x 2 from Hurricane bolts.
There is nothing here dealing damage in a way that it isn't intended to. Twitch is not getting anything special from Hurricane other than the intended two 40% damage bolts.
If there's a problem here it's that Twitch's ult + Hurricane is dealing its intended damage in an unintuitive way, not that it's dealing unintended amounts of damage.
well it's more a problem of interpretation
Runaans Reads: UNIQUE – WIND'S FURY: When Basic attacking, bolts are fired at up to 2 enemies near the target, each dealing 40% AD physical damage. Bolts can critically strike and apply on-hit effects.
Do you consider Twitch's basic attack hitting a second target a basic attack? If yes then it's an abuse If no yes it's intented.... doesn't mean it shouldn't be removed
Cait couldn't aoe your entire team and she was stronger with shiv + rfc anyway
Caitlyn was an abuse case because on top of getting the standard collateral damage bonus for building Runaan's, she also got a disproportionately large single-target DPS increase, which outperformed intended single-target DPS items and was not an intentional function of the item.
Twitch is a notable user of Runaan's Hurricane because he is able to apply it on top of his innate collateral damage. He's an above-average user of Hurricane for sure, because it builds onto his core strengths, and Hurricane's on-hit interactions synergize well with BorK and his passive + E. These are intentional, straightforward bonuses, and they cater to the type of champion Twitch is and the type of effect Runaan's is supposed to have on a champion's damage output.
Twitch being too strong and Twitch abusing Runaan's Hurricane are separate discussions.
I think its also worth a mention that cait did not have CD's on her interaction, it was up 24/7 after she finished hurricane and she enjoys a very high base range to abuse targets. Twich ulti works great with it but goes on CD, and its not like Caits WE did not help her maintain distance and safety to keep hitting her targets, with comparatively more uptime then twitch R.
Really? i didnt realize that.. wow

Twitch is the best hurricane abuser in a game
Yet they removed cait + hurricane interaction
Thats the OP concern
Caitlyn was an actual Hurricane abuser, meaning there was a weird interaction that gave her lots of unintended power. This is not the case with Twitch.
Twitch is getting exactly the intended amount of bonus damage from Hurricane: 80% damage on attack split between two nearby targets. Cait used to get this bonus and the additional perk of getting her passive 200%+ damage auto attack twice as frequently.
How do I break it to you
TWITCH ASIDE FROM KAYLE WAS THE ONLY CHAMPION BUYING HURRICANE BEFORE IT GOT REWORKED KAPISH?
Twitch is the strongest hurricane abuser
Cait just enjoyed it.
wrong: Kalista, Kayle, Teemo, Kennen, Kog'maw, Tf, Twitch, Ashe and Varus were all Hurricane users. Some on special itembuilds, some built it (and still build it) all the time (looking especialy at Kalista and Kog'maw). Only Caitlyn, Jinx, Tristana, Kindred and Xayah came to building Runaans after it got Crit (or the champs were released ;) with some of the listed champions above now buying it maybe more often as before. Look how Runaans works on Twitch, Jinx, and Kayle. Look how Runanns works on Ashe, Varus, Kog'maw, Teemo, NOW on Cait and Kennen. And look how it used to work on Cait, Kennen and i believe is still working on tf:
The 3rst three get from the purchase of this aoeitem just more aoe. Funny how Twitch, maybe with the highest Range, ahs the least benefit of extra Damage on Primary target. Cause the Bolts on the secondary targets don't pierce threw enemies. But Jinx does triple aoedmg, so damaging a primary target gives them aoedmg from the secodnary targets as well and secondary targets get runans damage and the aoe from the main target. I believe on kayle its like it is on Jinx. Point here is: If these 3 fight 1v1 with no other enemy champions or Minions, Runans provides no strenghts compared to the other Zealitems beside that it has higher Movementspeed and higher Attackspeed as Stattiks and Rapidfire. But these 2 give you extra Damage regardless if it is a 1v1 or Teamfight. And Phantomdancer gives you more Attackspeed, more Movementspeed with enemies near you and Dmg Reduc vs the last enemy champion hit, making it still the best 1v1 item. On the other Hand Jinx aoe rockets are slow and cost mana and Kayle and Twitch have limited Time on their natural aoe.
The secodary Category doesn't have aoe basicattacks and get definetly not increased damage on a Primary Target if there are multiple targets. Still they share their onhitdmg, if it is Ashes Slow and Q Damage, magic onhit damage or increased Headshotdamage. Keep in midn that even if Caitlyn doesn't get stacks anymore threw runans, her headshotdamage is still applied to secodnary targets.
Now the last category was mostly removed cause Runans, the Aoe Damageitem, increased their effectivness on Singletargets heavily too. Caitlyn and Kennen got stacks faster. Faster Stacks meant for Caitlyn more Damage to a primary target, far far more Damage as Jinx can provide with Aoe Rockets. And Kennen could place his Marks much faster, so even in Solotoplane with Minions it was a big diffrence if he was alone or before buying runans or if he had Minions. Both were obnoxius. To compare that, imagine if Ashe would get her q not after 4 Autoattacks but after 2 with Runans (she can appliy the damage to mulitple enemies saiying it again but not get stacks threw them). Or if Fervor would work like that, geting with Runans it triple it faster. If i read it correctly on lolwiki Tf still has this interaction, but hell: He probably still has that cause no one realy plays ad tf cause it sucks.
Conclusion: It is fine, if Runans helps Champions to deal more aoedamage and increase champions effectivness a bit. But its not fine that it doubles or triples a champions effectivness. Twitchs interaction isn't even that big. You don' rush this item on Twitch always cause stattiks is atm the most effective zealitem and sometimes you not even buy it. But have fun playing Kog'maw, Kalista or Kayle without Runans. Kalsita is special that she depends far more on her e damage as Twitch or Xayah and she cang et a reset after she kilsl one target with it. So its a singletarget damage increase but only after she kills one singletarget before (like tristana passive e).

Well if we are going to talk about high ELO
Yes I completly forgot about Kalista almost all used it but she was kinda a champion which ressurected hurricane, 1/3 Kayle players were using it, 1/20 teemo players were using it (Nashoors was better), I actually never saw kog maw using it pre crit gain, 1/17 twitch players were using it and those were sadly considered bad ones, Never really saw good Ashe/varus players using it
I actually understand very well how Hurricane interacts with kits
Yes Kennen gets more stuns Caitlynn gets more headshots (This part was actually really overated) Ashe gets aoe slow Jinx gets aoe layers on aoe layers Kog and varus become on hit abusers
But still hurricane allows twitch to auto attack enemies even if they are not lined up. You can literaly auto 1 target 900 range forward and 1 target 900 range backwards
Twitch kit also works well with hurricane rush because his ultimate already gives the AD stat
Expunge also works really well with twitch ultimate (Kinda whole point why kalista builds it is rend)
Now yes Kalista rend generaly hits 20% more then expunge. But twitch stacks expunge stacks faster
The only reason twitch wasnt "really" building hurricane in a past because it didnt give standard ADC stats
Also in no way shape or form current AD itemization is fine or Marskman themself are
As far as if hurricane gets removed Kayle is viable without runnans. Nowdays people use her as ardent toplaner/midlaner and let their puppy twitch/kog farm both jungle and their lane Kog swaps to crit trinity build you would be surprised how little change there is..
Yes kalista is dead if that happens probably
Twitch is the best hurricane abuser in my book. The only champion aside from kalista which rushes it consistently
"1/3 Kayle players were using it": sry but hurricane was the way to go item on kalista. Even ehr champion reveal showed that. A little minority tried her crit for a bit of time but she was always the hurricane + lifestealitem champion. "auto 1 target 900 range forward and 1 target 900 range backwards": nope, hurricane only allos you to proc the bolts ina certain angle of your view. You can not shoot ina 360 degree angel, not even a 180 degree. Even if Twitch gets range with his ultimate, kogmaw gains range to with his w. Jinx gets range with ehr rockets. Tristana gets Range with her level. Caitlyn gets range with her headshot. Ashe and Varus have a natural high Range. And everyone can get range with Rapidfirecanon. Twitch gets ad from his Ult but kogmaw gets onhitdmg from his passive. And while the Hurricane bolts use 40% of your Ad, they apply the total onhit you have from passives, ingamebuffs or items. The last runannchanges were even Kog'maw and Onhit Varus nerfs and Twitch buffs maybe by taking away runans own 15onhit but increasing the ad ratio from 25% to 40%ad. This was mainly a nerf to kog'maw and onhit champions as to twitch. also current ad itemization is pretty good with execption of maybe cost efficenty and maybe executioners calling. This can be changed but it is by far better as the ap or support itemization.

AD carry itemization is to strong yes. But it has diversity ); something other classes lack
I completly forgot about kalista. Did say she essentially revived that item. I vividly remember people starting to build hurricane once she came out not just on her but testing it on others such kayle
Now I said that 1/3 high elo kayle players are curently using it not kalista (Might be a typo sorry then)
Yes Hurricane is core on Kalista
I just feel like it synergizes the best with Twitch -850 Range with ultimate. Jinx has 700, Tristana hits what 669 at level 18 to cait Has 650. So in short Twitch outclasses in range deparment
Once Hurricane became a zeal item twitch spiked the most. I imeddieatly assumed he ll be ban tier (Which is what would happen yes) but they even gave him pointless unessesary buffs such as Q resset
Who else could spike back then. Kayle didnt care about crit. Kalista builds dont care about crit and crit is better the more crit items you have
Kalista builds hurricane lifesteal lastwhisper...
Jinx gained this unhealthy pointless AOE rocket interaction just recently (that interaction is unhealthy for game)
It also just how naturaly it works. Ussualy you just make sure you arent lined up vs twitch but with hurricane not even that helps
also I apolizse for miss information as far as hurricane angles go. I just saw some wierd shit in games hope its not bugged
you don't see twitch players either rushing hurricane (as i said already at y first comment). Yes, twitch ahs an ad steroid on ult, but he has also an as steroid on q, which he can use far more often and even reset with kills. Most Twitch players rush ie. If they don't rush e they go botrk, the old style before crit got busted. Twitchs OLD itempath was botrk, runans, ie. Now its ie,double zeal. It doesn't even amtter that much to have runans second or not at all. Youc an see twitch players with stattiks rapidfire catching solo targets in the jungle too. Ie first together with the as steroid onq and the ad steroid on ult (crit is better with more ad too) is jsut atm the strongest option. for more you can look here: http://www.probuilds.net/champions/details/Twitch

I guess there is no point in doing AOE damage till midgame
Caitlyn was an actual Hurricane abuser, meaning there was a weird interaction that gave her lots of unintended power. This is not the case with Twitch.
Twitch is getting exactly the intended amount of bonus damage from Hurricane: 80% damage on attack split between two nearby targets. Cait used to get this bonus and the additional perk of getting her passive 200%+ damage auto attack twice as frequently.
Vayne had the exact same interaction on Devourer enchant, and they literally removed the item before fixing the interaction.
Cait's interaction with Runaan's was not as extreme as the interactions on Jinx, Kayle, or Twitch. Melting a team one target at a time (like Cait) is fundamentally less toxic than melting an entire team in the time it took Cait to get two headshots with Runaan's.
Twitch is still getting exactly the intended amount of damage from Runaan's that he is supposed to. Anyone ranged champion that picks up the item automatically gets bonus collateral damage on their auto attacks.
Twitch is a notable user of Runaan's Hurricane because he is able to apply it on top of his innate collateral damage. Caitlyn was an abuse case because on top of getting the standard collateral damage bonus for building Runaan's, she also got a disproportionately large single-target DPS increase, which outperformed intended single-target DPS items and was not an intentional function of the item.
The devourer interaction on Vayne was not a bug and worked as intended Devourer got removed but Guinsoos still has the phantom hit passive and when Vayne fully stacks Guinsoos she Procs her W every other AA
If Apples can't have thick peels, why can Oranges?
The way they are abusing runaan's is entirely different. Caitlyn had a per auto attack tick up on her passive. Twitch is simply firing through enemies and hitting them secondarily with runaan's leading to more damage experienced by the secondary targets than the primary.
That being said, I do think Twitch will need work after runes hit.
Except here's the thing: Cait was able to get a headshot off every three attacks (two in brush!), as opposed to the seven she's meant to (or 4 in brush). That means she's outright doubling her damage output.
Twitch is doing the exact same thing everyone else does with Runaan's - applying his AA to multiple targets. This just happens to coincide with his ult's punch-through damage. It's the exact same thing as
buying
for his traps, or for any mage buying
. There's no special interaction where "Holy shit he's getting way more damage than he should be". It's just his ult's damage+Runaan's damage.
Not only the damage but since he gains bonus range the bolts also go really far resulting in insane aoe. Tbh if twitch can have this kind of stuff then I want 3 axes on draven when I buy runaan
Except Runaan's doesn't apply Twitch's ult's punchthrough damage. It only applies the damage from the AA itself, as well as most bonus on-hit effects (such as
).
Except that it does, in a weird way https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkcQOFKyrd0&feature=youtu.be
Vayne was specifically coded for silver bolts not to interact
Twitch could easily be the same.
Vayne's silver bolts are a passive effect being up the entire time. Twitch's is an activate skill and an ultimate as that, meaning that it has a long cool down to play around.
The only on-hit effect that Twitch's ult applies is his weak DoT passive. That's nothing compared to dealing % max HP true damage to three people at once.

Yes but Twitches ult pierces, so no it has 3 piercing bolts so its easymode to hit all 5 people. And those poison stacks aren't useless, his E is a strong finishing skill. At least Cait can only headshot 1 person at a time.
There are stronger on-hit users than Twitch that benefit from this without breaking the game, so it still stands that Twitch's passive should not be exempt from a commonplace Runaan's Hurricane interaction.

His passive isn't the issue, its his ult. He melts people since when he ults he shoots 3 ult bolts at a time, which is insanely broken. Yes I understand its an auto attack enhancement, but its busted and stats show. Why is he allowed to shoot 3 PIERCING LONG RANGE autos?
Just imagine if Jinx or Ashe were allowed to shoot 3 rockets or arrows due to it? It isn't far off.
If his ult didn't work with Hurricane it would be 100% fine. Until then he is one of the most busted ADCs until Riot changes it to being letality crap again.
Jinx actually does shoot 3 rockets using Runaan's Hurricane. She's far from being broken though.
Twitch is getting the intended bonuses from Runaan's Hurricane. He isn't abusing or exploiting it, it synergizes well with is core strengths. If Twitch is overtuned his kit should be tuned down, but we definitely shouldn't be removing interactions with his core item.

The only synergy is it spreads his poison faster so he can E more people faster. His ult shooting 3 piercing shots at once is just a plus. You never used to get Hurricane for that reason, it was to waveclear and mess people up hard in teamfights.
Twitch ult causes lots of collateral damage in teamfights. Hurricane is used to add to that collateral damage, and since it also gives Twitch his core stats, its an obvious core purchase. Jinx buys Hurricane for the same reasons, but we don't see people calling to remove Jinx's Hurricane interactions. It's just because Twitch is overtuned, and that can be fixed in other, better ways.

The issue no one complains about Jinx is its just enhancing her rockets which is a normal spell with nothing really fancy about it. Twitch gets to use it with his ult which makes him long range, have piercing shots, a burst of AD, and now he can shoot 3 of them?
That is the issue people mostly have with Twitch. His ult is already powerful as is normally. There really is no reason he should be allowed to have Hurricane work with his ult. He shouldn't be shooting 3 ULT AUTOS every shot. Vayne isn't allowed to use Hurricane to proc 3 sets of Silver bolts on 3 different people, why is Twitch allowed to shoot 3 different people with his ult which is just as deadly?
if vaynes bolts did that she would never proc them because she has to hit the same target and if she hits another target they would go away. So if she hits three targets and there all trying to apply differnt stacks of bolts they would cancel eachother out.
Also Twitch doesn't get extra ult AA's from runaans he just gets another 2 AA's like every other champion. If Twitch is abusing anything it would probably be that they allow the secondary AA's to crit now were I think they used to not be able to. So twitch which had the kit to assasainate single targets can now ult someone and do aoe damage with ult then the secondary AA's crit and do massive dmg to the secondary targets as well.
With exactly which part of Twitch and Hurricane do you have an issue?
He probably thinks about how twitch ulti can go through several targets, get's enhanced AD while also critting and applying his passive for easy E's.
It's a powerful combo, not the most OP runaan interaction but added with the rest of his kit it becomes legitimately powerful.'
Not the most op runaan interaction? Name one that's stronger then. Note that kog building on hit doesn't have the potential to hit your entire team like twitch does
I´d say Jinx's the strongest damage wise, and if enemy team is clustered enough for Twitch to hit all of them then Jinx would also be able to.
Kayle is also pretty scary with it, with ruunan she´ll apply her passive to 3 targets which will lower their armor and magic resist by 15% in total. This is potentially really nasty for a clustered team.
Not really a direct disaster case like jinx rockets exploding all around though....no honestly Kayle's more of a honorable mention.
Then we have Twitch, who can apply his poison on all targets hit by his penetrating auto attack and the bolts. Which all eventually results in a expunge that deals like 300 + 150% bonus ADs worth of AD damage.
If you place jinx in a similar position to shoot as a twitch to get the optimal usage of his ulti then i am fairly sure jinx does in fact deal more damage because of how explosion´s overlap and the 10% enhance to all her rockets....which also crit.
The advantage Twitch does possess however, is however range and stealth which allows for easier positioning and catching people off guard.
That's what makes him so terrifying, with jinx you do at least see it coming and can react to it.

That's just what his ult does. He doesn't get extra Hurricane bolts and the bolts he does get don't go through targets. Hurricane adds the same amount to his attacks as any other's.
Yeah that's what i wrote? O_O
It's just a strong combo with his ulti due to range+enhanced AD+crits+easy E proc.
Never wrote more than that did i?.....I might have been a bit vague but i am fairly sure that what i wrote doesn't imply that ruunans grants him any particular benefits aside from the standard. It's just a strong combo with his ulti and stealth.
I think the real problem is that twitch's ult is broken.
Difference is.
Caitlyn's hurricane interaction was UNINTENDED behavior.
Twitch, Jinx, Ashe, Varus, Kog'Maw's interaction with Hurricane is intended behavior.
Hurricane is intended to provide aoe, rather than single target. It provides twitch aoe damage but provided Cait single target damage. I believe that is why.
