WIN Streaks and LOSE Streaks

I first became aware of this by noticing it with my games, then when I looked up other players I saw the same thing. If people tend to play a few games in a row when they play, they are either on win streaks, or lose streaks. Rarely any in between. There are games where even if you feed, you'll still win, and games where no matter what you do, you'll lose.

Reasons why you win, is you'll get smurfs or w/e on your team that will just carry the game single-handedly (if you do your part), players who recently just started player ranked again and have a huge mmr discount, etc. and then when you're on your lose streaks, you'll have someone who dies twice then shouts 'open mid' while they afk at the fountain occasionally wandering around the jungle and last hitting minions simply to avoid leaverbuster, flaming the whole time.

I can't be the only one this happens to, and I want to know why matchmaking does this. Does anyone have any answers to this occurrence?

It's random however you do have a greater chance of losing subsequent games that you play in a short amount of time but it's mainly due to the fact that your attitude changes and carries over from game to game.

Also people will intentionally start at a disadvantage when they get matched with someone who had a poor game previously since they'll be angry at the person while they're more likely to get along and understand the playstyle of someone who did well in the last match.

Thank you for answering but I don't believe it is completely random anymore. Maybe they set the mmr recount (or whatever you would call that mechanism) to only update every couple of days. For what reason? Maybe it would improve server stability by decreasing it's workload. Now skill still plays an important part in whether you climb or not, it's just that if you tend to play lots of games in a row(ranked), you'll see this pattern.

You haven't noticed this in your ranked games lately?

Matchmaking system is a broken joke. This system I'd designed to hold you back. You can never truly figure out if your builds are correct or if your good with a champ. Inconsistent game play. I find how if bottom feeds I hear having a off day, but you struggle and there reporting you for one game. But I play solo and they come in as groups. Another broken feature.

Eh, I think it more has to do with MMR fluctuations. The system is designed to try and keep you around a 50% win ratio. If you go on a win streak the game will purposely give you worse teammates and stiffer competition until you start losing again.

That's part of the frustration of the ranked system. Your ranking typically lags behind your MMR. So even if your MMR is much higher than your ranking you have to keep winning games at that higher MMR in order to actually reach the higher rank.

Yup, that is exactly how my entire season has been. Massive swings in both directions.

I got demoted to Bronze3 after losing 1 game at 0 LP. My MMR is at about Silver5. Rito y is your game so broken?
