ARAM Queue dodging penalties

Ok I know this is 'just aram' I'm talking about but I play that pretty much exclusively now. A problem that I see is that very often people don't like the champions they get and just dodge at the last second in the countdown. In a very large amount of games, there are often 2-3 dodges before a game finally goes through. This wastes a bit of time for all players involved in the queue. These dodgers are simply cheating the system and I think there should be penalties for dodging too often. I think these people need to be placed on a higher timer on low priority queue because it happens quite frequently. I once read before that even the old client had a means to detect and count how often people dodged or caused other people to dodge. Why not use this technology to make one aspect of this game better?

What's "too often"?

There are just some champions that are just not fun for me or people to play, like Shaco. "But there's no pressure!" It's not fun. "But you can build anything!" They are not fun to play. "But you can-"

Some champions are just too icompatible with people's playstyle to be any amount of fun.

And if the whole purpose is to have fun in a chillaxed game mode, why are you suggesting that if I get a champion I absolutely hate, I have to suck it up and play it anyway? If you want to make dodging in general more costly so that people are more willing to try new champions instead of cheese to Lux/Blitz/Nid comps, but I don't care if you had a 24 hour dodge timer, I'm not fucking playing Shaco.

I have every single champion in the game, and I get almost no benefit from it because I hardly ever reroll.

That probably won't happen often when you play him also, if you're getting the enemy team to drop 1200 gold every 3 minutes, that means you're doing an excellent job :)

We all know the simple reason for that last second dodge of course; the people who don't like the champion they got hope someone else dodges first. I as an ARAM-only-player would be fine to have for example 30 min ban instead of the current 15 min ban for the first offense. However, I am fine with the 15 minute first ban too. Maybe if the dodge-counter could be done against the client in addition to the account we would have less dodges, maybe (ie: multiple account people would be unable to dodge any more often than single account people). I don't really think RIOT has the time to dabble in such matters. They have more important things to do - we all have our preferences, I hope they get item set creator done asap, you guys might prefer different things. My preferences are most important though. ;)

We all have our favorite champions and the least favorites, and sometimes the last re-roll brings us the least favorite one (mutters something about recent Rek'Sai beating) but we will play with the hand we are dealt with and have fun with it, or play with it, cry and have fun with it. Well, I admit that sometimes I will dodge, but it happens quite rarely. The others will get their game new match in a minute anyways while I cool my head waiting for the 15 minutes - or I go to sleep to play more the next game.

PS: I prefer a dodger to a non-Trundle-troll any day though. In EUNE I get to ARAM in a minute or two at most, so dodging isn't that problematic there imo.

There's no point blowing 25 minutes playing a garbage champ or team comp where you are like 30% to win when you can simply dodge and only wait 15 minutes, or 0 if you have any smurfs. So at a minimum the dodge penalty should be higher than that. Now supposedly this goes against the random spirit of the game, but the fact of the matter is most people who play ARAM regularly don't really like the random aspect, they just like the nonstop teamfights without the boring laning phase. If they really wanted to blow out this game mode they could set it up like SR where you pick a role say Tank, AD, Mage, Support, then get a random draw out of 15 champs in that role, but it's probably not popular enough for that much work.

And there's nothing random about ARAM anyway, half the people playing and probably 90% at higher elo are playing ARAM only accounts, where the chances of them getting a garbage champ are near zero considering rerolls, swaps, and swaps into rerolls. The solution to the problem is to unlock all champions in the mode, but that's not really in Riot's best interest.
