Am I the only one that thinks Riot is run by a bunch of idiots?

It's been 6 years: No replay system No method for compensating games with leavers Loads of bugs like the Jayce hammer stance bug

What does Riot have to show for it? Lots of heroes and lots of cosmetic changes. A highly controversial dynamic queue which was released at the same time the new champion select was released. Shouldn't they have done some studies to determine how implementing both at the same time would impact queue times?

Feel free to add to either list.

No, Riot is not run by idiots.

Riot isn't run by morons, it is run by monkeys.

Riot balance department hard at work. It's been one crazy Tuesday. Unanimously decided to buff Tibbers.

Probably not, though it's also a factually untrue statement depending on your definition of "idiot".

Have mistakes been made? Absolutely, and I'd expect nothing less from a company that's still trying to grow into its own body and find its footing.

I will always participate in critique where it's necessary, but this sort of thread doesn't actually help Riot improve nor does it open much communication with the playerbase at large.

This particular release is one of the few times where I've seen Riot really disconnect from the vocal playerbase quite to this extent. I'm honestly flabbergasted as to why they chose to release Dynamic Queue along with New Champion Select then conflate the two so people would get confused trying to articulate their thoughts. Seems like a really strange move.

One more thing I forgot about, no sandbox mode!

Not that you can't have both, but dishonesty isn't the same thing as stupidity.

Riot's focus is going to be on monetary gains and they might feel that the player base and popularity has reached a level where they can risk some of the game integrity in an attempt to give some staying power to the mass appeal it has enjoyed.

They want the game to be more "action packed" and are trying to balance it towards that end. We are losing map control so people will have to play around buffs/dragon/baron more frequently, and cannot use vision and timers for a strategic advantage. Laning is more or less being phased out, and sustain playstyles being completely eliminated.

Shorter, simpler, more action-oriented games will be more enjoyable for the average video game player (not League player), and be far more broadcast-friendly. Maybe think back to S2 worlds with long, slow laning phase and jungle. When's the last time you heard the crowd cheer as someone cleared a ward?

That's a nice explanation and I agree with it but I don't see why they don't have the resources to devote to simple things like a leaver compensation system. It's like they work on one project at a time and have very limited manpower. Why not work on some simple items first then work on the grand projects? I mean don't you think it's weird when outside programmers do a better job (replay system) than the people who work there?

I'd just assume they have made a conscious decision not to include these things, for whatever reason.

They eliminated an entire game mode (dominion) because whatever, and spectator mode so you can't see what games are like now with DQ.

They hide Elo, ping, premade status. They want careful control over what you see and experience so they aren't likely to add anything in that doesn't have very obvious benefits to the bottom line to ensure it outweighs any potential risk

Honestly, they have no reason to develop a replay system at this point. There are plenty of 3rd party programs that do it great.

Finally Riot is adding a leaver compensation system. I'm grateful.

No, Riot isn't run by idiots. Instead, it's run by a bunch of greedy, slimy suits who will do -anything- to milk you dry. I honestly want to slap Beck silly -- he is such a fucking asshole it's not even funny. Selling out to Tencent was the last straw, really.

But, see, they don't make money by improving the quality of their product and making the base game enjoyable -- that's just now how an F2P game works. They make money off of the cash shop, and doing everything in their power to make you pay for things in it. Jayce bugs? That has zero income potential, so will get zero attention until they're making a Jayce skin or something.

Just another wonderful effect of F2P -- but nah, you know, F2P is the fucking savior of gaming, and the way to the future! Right? That's what they (the morons who enabled it all) told us 10 years ago, despite 90% of the gaming community telling them to demonize F2P.

Maybe one day, kids will pull their head out, and realize that F2P is not a good thing.

Ok, why don't you think so?

xVARIANTx4/25/2016, 6:57:45 PM1 votes

I'd like to add, tribunal has been down for how long now? Didn't they say it was coming back? They work on champion updates, mage updates. But some basics are just completely left out. They take something away, or they say they'll add something ,they say it's coming (back) soon, then people forget about it. Decent amount of downvotes, no explanations.
