Can you explain the reasoning behind giving Azir the ability to "rebuild" turrets?

Even in DotA, "builder" heroes were considered completely taboo because of how they could screw the game's mechanics over. Heimerdinger averts this since his turrets don't have much range and deactivate if he's too far away. Azir's Sun Discs do the same, but still they make tower-pushing him seem... significantly less rewarding.

What I'd like to know, however, is why you are giving him such a huge benefit? The ability to "rebuild" turrets, even if only temporarily, is pretty insane in some cases. And since no other Champion has anything comparable (not even Heimer), that just makes Azir's benefit seem unfair.

You mean you can't use the same tried-and-true rote mechanics on every champion?

SAY IT AIN'T SO, RIOT.

His whole kit is themed around rebuilding Shurima from the sands.

If it's balanced, it's balanced. The tower's HP decays over time (ensuring it falls before the cooldown ends, even if no one attacks it) and it's significantly weaker when Azir isn't around.

It is probably a thematic thing more than anything else.

It has a 3-minute cooldown and the turret he summons loses HP over a 1 minute duration even when not attacked. I think that is pretty reasonable. It tanks 2 minion waves at most and then he can't use it again immediately.

If it turns out to be too strong, just have the turret die if Azir himself dies.

Not sure how posts like these are already popping up, given the fact that the champion was just released yesterday, so no one could possibly have enough pbe experience to make an real assumptions. Also, all his numbers are not final, so there is that too.

  1. Since when do we hold Dota to the standard of league of legends. Though they are the same genre of games ,league and dota are significantly different, so this comparison is rather weak. Of course you can argue that the fact that an ability like this is not apparent in other similar games, but why should that stop riot from creating another unique mechanic for their new and upcoming champions. If you base your potential off what others do, then we can never aspire to exceed others.

  1. Tower pushing him still gives the same rewards as any other match up. You gain vision control, enemy jungle control, and more pushing power, as well as global gold and exp. All Azir`s towers do is erect a tower that does do more damage, but lasts temporarily, and cannot replace a tower in terms durability. Also, when you push down his turret, and he gets the opportunity to tag the turret that just fell, it takes 5 seconds for the tower to become operational, so it is completely the decision of your team to engage the enemy with that risk, or fall back. Azir is not putting you into a bad situation, he is just presenting a threat in a different medium.

  1. His turret revival passive is not a huge benefit. At most, It limits his potential damage output compared to other champions because they will always take into consideration the situation where his passive will aid him, when in reality, this situation will probably not happen much, since he lacks the cc to lock people down near his tower, in time for it to construct it self. Azir should be rewarded for co-coordinating this with their team. It seems like an interesting mechanic to stop split pushing and giant minion waves before heading off to aid your team. If no other champion is comparable to the benefits that azir, that is a good thing, because that promotes more diversity among champions if you want a specific strength.
