Looks like Riot's buffing Greater Stealth Totem EVEN MORE in 5.3, letting it hold up to 2 charges at a time so you can flood an area with wards.

But this begs the question: What's the point of Ruby Sightstone anymore if this TRINKET is so much better?

Yes, Supports must take Sweeping Lens to counter warding, but they could just get regular Sightstone and NEVER upgrade Ruby Sightstone. Their teammates could get GST and easily cover that extra vision base. Because of this, all you're really getting now out of Ruby Sightstone is 250 extra health at a bad price.

Riot, we've said it before: Ruby Sightstone is a TRAP! The only reason a Support might get it early is if they are dealing with 100-0 assassins and are desperate. Otherwise, that 800 gold for only 250 health will basically screw you over if you get it even in mid-game instead of a real item. And instead of addressing the issue? You just make Trinkets better and REMAIN SILENT.

Enough with the silence, Riot. What's going on with that damn red eyeball stone?

Dunno, I personally like getting Sightstone and Pink Ward trinket to cover all the bases.

This is more for non-sightstone characters, who don't want a pink trinket or sweeping lens, so they have an actual reason to upgrade.

Even if it holds two charges, sighstone is a lot better because you can reposition all your wards as needed

It's not a post dissing the sightstone, it's a post dissing the ruby sightstone which is an upgrade worth 800 extra gold that allows you to have 1 more ward charge and +250hp. It was a pretty worthless upgrade until full build on supports anyway.

Ruby Sightstone is like the last item you upgrade on a support anyway. It's not like there was ever much of a point for it before.

The only time anyone upgrade to ruby is for the HP and the one extra ward charge is kinda useful when the game is stalled out. Figuring HP is worth 2.67gold per 1hp, ruby sightstone should give you an extra 300hp. So it's not quite cost efficient and it doesn't upgrade into anything else making it even worse to buy.

With that said, I love the new changes to upgraded yellow trinket! The most frustrating thing about not playing support is not being able to ward appropriate locations. "Hey dumbass, we're losing, stop placing deep wards in their jungle when we're hiding under our turret."

Easy fix, Sightstone now upgrade to ruby sightstone at level 11 free of charge and grants no additional HP.

oh yeah, ruby sighstone sucks. It would be nice if it gave you a free pink ward as well as 5 regular ward charges

Make RSS ward vision go over walls. I don't mean "expand" the vision range it grants (1100 units), but make the vision able to see over walls. It would give the item a good bit more reason to be used.

Is this meant to encourage non-support schmucks to actually ward once in a while? Hmm, I'm on the fence about this. I feel it enables lower-Ranked folks from buying into Vision Wards, which outside myself I rarely ever see people buy. However, the more vision, the merrier, really.

As for Ruby Sightstone, no idea on how to fix that jank. I suppose it's better than nothing once you're at (almost) full build.
