AP JG Issue

Malfectious··18 votes·9,598 views

item 1402 Needs a mana regen passive. Most AP JG need tons of mana to clear and gank. Being blue buff dependent hurts team comps and keep most AP champs out of the JG.

Something like a 15% base mana refund for killing large monsters or much higher regen when in the JG would go along way.

Let's open the door to mage JG being relevant, since it looks like there going to be pushed out of mid with the new mana changes anyway.

...it does have a mana regen passive. It restores 25% missing mana whenever the echoes proc pops against a monster.

It could honestly be better than it is, but I don't think that this is the biggest issue with the item. It lacks CDR (which all of its predecessors, which were Spirit of the Spectral Wraith, Magus, and Runeglaive for those who don't remember, had), and Magic Penetration, two stats which mages both love just as much as mana. Given how abundant CDR is right now, I feel like the best way to buff it would be to give it Magic Pen, but that could send Evelynn over the top (she's basically the only viable AP Jungler at all right now, which is pretty sad).

It would do a lot to help champs like Malzahar, Syndra, and Ekko who have always had viable niches in the jungle in the past, and I think it would do to help struggling AP Junglers like Elise and Fiddlesticks as well.

Fun fact, runic echoes suck and the secret strategy with coping in jg as a mage is to go lost chapter since it gives all the stuff a jg mage wants early, like AP and mana. For less gold than runic echoes. And no need for stupid things like hunter's machete and red/blue smite to clutter up your no-auto high CC mage.

Another fun fact: dorans ring will no longer require minion kills. And it's mad efficient. Healthier clears, decent AP, I think the mana regen stacks if you really need it.

Talisman -> 0 - 2 dorans rings depending on how sucky your mage pick is with early game jg clears -> Lost chapter -> mana item -> sell talisman later imo is a lowkey op build

I've also done Tear of the Goddess on certain champions in previous seasons since the mana cost discount stacks really nicely with the passive regen of Hunter's Talisman, even though most of the AP champions I played in the jungle were bad with it. Now that Tear is more universally usable it might be the preferred option if your AP champion needs the mana for it.

Udyr Stay by your tower little girl, the jungle isn't for fufu spellcasters.

item 1039 already gives mana regen and item 1402 gives mana when you proc the passive. Putting item 1027 in Runics build path and giving it some +total mana would be nice though.

Why was mana taken off of smiting camps again?

IDK, something about the junglers fault for not ganking.

because 'Smite Rewards weren't interesting so Blue Buff lost its mana restore, and everyone got Red Buff's heal instead.' More or less.

Back in season 5 that jungle item for mages gave a lot more mana. It felt like a blue buff basically but they changed it for some reason.

Meanwhile the most mana starved champ in the jungle. Amumu

I mostly stick to champs like Xin, Yi, and WW now as I don't like getting in fights with my mid laner over blue buff. I only go magey when my team is totally lacking in AP. Sadly, still get in fights with Zed over blue...screw zeds.

I miss Morgana jungle. One of the highlights of Season 7 for me.

It's as if it doesn't have a Luden's Echo passive that restores a ton of mana when procced.
