Game Skews at Season Starts

Hi,

With all these threads about high disparity games blaming positional matchmaking (which may or may not be a thing), I’ve been thinking about other causes, assuming there are indeed more skewed games right now.

My games have historically felt bad in the early season, and I don’t start to actually hit my personal ceiling until June-October.

With that being said, maybe riot or someone has data. Does anyone know if high-disparity games (the stomps) are disproportionately in the first half of the year each year? There will always be stomps, but does the variance in scores go down on average as the season drags on? And is this just the effect of a climbing?

When people are gaining 8 and losing 25 so early in the season (meanning there is no way to have tanked their MMR so much already) something is just wrong.
