Why is Riot trying to rework Abyssal sceptre in the first place?

Title? Why does this item need a rework? As far as I can see there's nothing wrong with this item. It's not broken. It's not toxic It's not underpowered. And it's not irrelevant. So why the hell is Riot trying to touch it? Have I missed something? It currently fulfils it's function as an offensive-defensive item and synergies well with a lot of champion kits. So again, why is Riot trying to change it into something that will be effective on far fewer champions. Riot claims to be all about diversity, but in this case they're trying to basically remove Abyssal sceptre from effectively functioning in the mid lane. (No one will want to build the new AS in the midlane, it's absolute shit for champions that have decent AP scalings, better off going Zhonyas or ROA to survive burst.) So again, why, why oh why is Riot trying to rework Abyssal sceptre? If they want to add a new item that makes aura's more obvious (Because from what I've read, that's what this is about, making Auras more obvious or some garbage like that) then why not just do just that - ADD A NEW ITEM. Not rework a perfectly fine, perfectly decent, and perfectly healthy existing item into whatever Seijuani mess it is that they're trying to make.
