So here are my actual thoughts on Nami

Just in case you didn't know, Nami is currently scheduled for nerfs, here is the PBE note on it (no context given as to why):

Ebb And Flow (W) heal lowered from 65/95/125/155/185 to 60/85/110/135/160

Nami has been decently strong for a few patches now, mainly due to every other enchanter being in the gutter, and her being as of currently the only viable enchanter pick (other then janna who was just re-buffed). now what sets Nami aside from other healer supports other then her CC, is the fact that her main trading tool is also her healing spell. as such, this means she loses absolutely nothing from maxing it, unlike say Soraka, because if she maxes her heal she loses her e damage, or Sona, if she maxes her heal she loses her q damage.

but I ask, why did they take a swing at her heal?

Damage has been running rampant in this game since the beginning of this season, and we as a player base have been advocating for more sustain and less dying with a less impactful laning phase (that is, right now laning is everything), which of course prompted your response in adding shielded towers for season nine, and tweaking shutdown gold. so I ask, why nerf the part of Nami's kit that provides this safety and less dying?

as of currently on live, nami's ebb and flow heals for

65 / 95 / 125 / 155 / 185 (+ 30% AP)

and for trading deals

70 / 110 / 150 / 190 / 230 (+ 50% AP)

what I propose instead is a nerf to the base damage on the trading portion, as well as a slight increase to the penalty on subsequent bounces (as of currently, each one is -15%):

60 / 100 / 135 / 190 / 230 (+ 50% AP) -20% per bounce

and of course a slight increase to her heal to compensate for the penalty increase, but only enough to restore it to its current value of healing. the reason I chose this model is because it keeps her decent at doing her job of being the backline healer, while at the same time not hitting her too hard being her early lane is her strongest phase. her w also has an insane mana cost as it is, so lowering the damage she deals would at the same time make the player think twice about using it to heal vs shield, and focuses more on the initial trade rather then how it plays out as it bounces. rank 4 and 5 remain unchanged because of this, so it wont hit her too hard during mid-to late game skirmishes and fights. as a plus, toning down early damage presence is a start, so you would also thereby kill two birds with one stone.

edit: mixed up a few things while typing, fixed em now

The balancing team wants to see Nami playing more aggressively, not sitting back and healing the adc.

she still theoretically can this way, considering she has a slow and a stun. I'm just saying I don't think even more aggression is the solution to an already more aggressive laner.

got it in one damage damage damage

No. Her healing was, and still is, just way too strong. She makes Soraka look like a joke, while also being an extremely potent lane bully if allowed to trade with Ebb.
