So how does one play Jungle Shyv, exactly?

Although I know that Jungle Shyv has idiotically high winrates, especially among experienced players, I just can't figure it out. In my hands she just does nothing; I can't gank because I don't have CC, can counterjungle but then the enemy jungler just ganks and snowballs multiple lanes, can splitpush then watch my team lose teamfights left and right, etc. To top if off, I can't even find that many guides on the role. You guys got any tips?

You don't play Shyv to gank. You play her to powerfarm and automatically become a god in teamfighting. She's best when:

Your lanes have high levels of CC (Gives gank potential) Enemies have low levels of CC (Less likely to be peeled off)

Don't JUST farm, but you want to abuse your farming and control objectives. THAT'S where your pressure comes from. They MUST out-pressure you because you scale like a demon, and you can strangle their jungler's objective control. Post-6, I can think of about one or two junglers that can actually duel Shyv, and even that is dicey.

DON'T pick Shyvana if the teams are:

Shyvana Fiora Morgana Katarina Jinx

Versus

Vayne Thresh Nautilus Ahri Chogath

Or something like that. You're begging for a bad experience.

These, too. You basically just don't want to be peeled off the second you ult. Comes with judging when to teamfight but certain comps make it neigh impossible. Also idk if you run summoner 3 but you should. Even MORE duel potential, gives CC and makes you a total b*tch to deal with. Most junglers can't afford to forego flash. May as well abuse the fact that you can (and should).

You go for devourer and farm up. Your ganks should be mostly counterganks unless enemies are really far forward and your laners have cc to set it up. However, if you can't countergank just farm up.

Warrior build

item 3714 --> item 3068 (rush) --> item 3111 ---> item 3144 --> item 3143 --> item 3102 ---> item 3153

Cinderhulk Build

item 3717 --> item 3143 --> item 3144 --> item 3111 --> item 3102 -->item 3075 --> item 3153

These are just usually what my build is like. Get some decent amount of armor then get a item 1053 when you farm enough get item 3144 and keep it and complete all other tank items unless you are super fed.

summoner 3 <- take this. really helps with ganks, and 5x5. Also try ulting to drag enemy away from safety. I build cinderhulk, into botrk, and then all defense items. Shyvana can really burst even without any damage items early. When people see the damage you do, they don't want to meet you. And even if they see you taking their buffs, sometimes they just walk away.

You play Shyv to straight up beat people in raw stats. She has mixed damage which makes her hard to itemize against, she has built in resistances so she's naturally tough even without extreme amounts of investment, and depending on what you build she is impossible for a lone person to kite.

Don't gank pre-6. If you're an experienced Jungle player in general, pay attention to the enemy Jungler and laners so you can countergank where necessary. As mentioned, Shyvana stat checks people really well, meaning that in a 2v2 brawl drawn out by your arrival, you can easily turn around an enemy gank.

Counter jungle just for it. If you have the right runes and masteries, you are going to burn through the Jungle (pun intended) at stupid speeds. Even with just Blasting Smite (no enchantment, just item 3713 and literally nothing else), I can push Shyvana to clear all 4 non-buff Jungle camps on my side of the map, kill the Scuttle Crab, and make it back to my first non-buff Jungle camp before it has even respawned. Instead of wasting downtime by waiting for your camps to respawn since you clear so fricking fast, go ahead and Counter Jungle whenever it is safe to because all it does is give you less downtime as you accumulate gold and experience. This is key to making Shyvana the stat checking monster she is by mid to late game.

If your team loses 4v4s, or hell even 4v3s, you probably aren't going to win the game as a whole anyway. Regardless, split pushing is one of the better ways of highlighting Shyvana's strengths if you're facing a team with a lot of peeling potential, so you fight just have to suck in your gut and deal with it.

I actually am having stupid fun with a Splitpush Shyvana build that I've been messing around with. Only 8 games with it so far but a 75% win ratio is just nice.

What I do is sometimes start opposite of the enemy jungler and ward the buff opposite of me at 55 seconds into the game, the absolute latest time to see if the buff will be warded or not. If it's not warded, guess where I'm going at level 2.

Also, you kinda outduel most junglers at level 3. Find them in their jungle? Take their shit and murder them. What's their team gonna do about it, chase you at level 3?
