Your game isn't HotS.
Your game isn't DotA2. Your game isn't SMITE. Your game isn't Overwatch.
You're afraid of losing your playerbase to those "other, prettier" games, aren't you? Tell me, though, how many loyal people you've seen disappointed and/or publicly quit League, for now? People come to League for 20-30 minute games, ease-of-use and responsive controls. People come to DotA2 for 30-60 minute games, depth of action and a fantasy artstyle. People come to HotS for 10-20 minute games, quality-of-life and a fight every second. SMITE is just SMITE.
I have a question, for any Riot representatives that read this: what happens to the people who come to LoL for LoL, when LoL becomes so close to and almost indistinguishable from HotS, sans for being a worse version with crappier towers, no ammo and a larger map? HotS' fanbase already has HotS. DotA2's fanbase already has DotA2.
Riot, speeding games up through more damage creep, weaker towers, more self-sufficient assassins will only make people flock to HotS - Heroes was first, and Heroes does the short MOBA-like jist better than you ever could... because they don't try to do anything else. DotA2 would roflstomp youif you extended your games into 45+ minute matches with a lot of downtime, because they didn't do anything else and got really good at that.
I see what you're trying to do. Stop. Remember, you may be popular now, Riot, but... "When the business is hot, you can do no wrong. When the business is cold, you can do no right." Remember WWE? Remember CoD? I remember, and I see you walking the same path. You're not exempt.
When your customer goodwill finally trickles away, your game will die, no matter how many ads you run, no matter how many times you update it. Because people will be burnt out of the company that never listened. So fucking listen to your fanbase, closely now.
Probably my final post for a few months to see if they'll fix all of this.
