Sight Stone Needs To Be More Cost Effective.

I'm a support main and I watch my wards like a hawk, but now that my Sight Stone has 3 charges I can't replace my ward net when it goes down. Before I could place a ward in River, Tri-Brush, and then have a third for either land brush, deep, drag, or the one tuft down by mid (do we have a special name for that one). Now if I do that I can't replace any of my wards when they go down, meaning I either need to back more or stick with yellow trinket cuz it at least recharges in lane and my ADC and I can rotate our wards to have constant vision. It just feels like SS has become a mid to late game item because it almost punishes you for buying it in the lane phase. I know that scanner it important early to help ganks come though but I need to ask whats more important, security or the chance you could get pushed in well enough for a gank. I just want my SS to give me 800GP of value all game not just after the lane is over.

how about we go back do the days of supports spending 1500g on wards and just dropping them everywhere?

Unfortunately for us, this was a change they wanted to happen, so I doubt they'd change it anytime soon. Sightstones are now one of the few sources of Stealth Wards, after they've been removed from the shop, so I wouldn't say they aren't cost effective.

With only 3 charges, and a reduced duration of the ward, it's much harder to keep the map warded. They kind of wanted this to force contesting over pink wards, and also to keep games from becoming stale due to having vision everywhere.

One option for us is to upgrade to Ruby Sightstone a little quicker, or use the Farsight Trinket vs. sweeper. But yeah.. vision definitely is different now.

What about the other support item? How many wards do those have?

The Tier 2 support + Sightstone items have four charges, same as a Ruby Sightstone.

K.

Don't supports usually rush a Sightstone? The new support items only cost 2200.

Even before the pace of the game accelerated, supports essentially never reached full build, so the slot efficiency that the Eye items give isn't particularly valuable. The active abilities are just more valuable.

I think they're cheaper, as you've already started with the support item.

The total price of a Sightstone plus Tier 3 support item is greater than an Eye item, yes; I didn't contest that. It's just that the Tier 3 items' actives are pretty great (well, at least the blue and yellow ones are), so most supports will want them for the pure utility they offer. That said, there's definitely a niche for people who want the bonus gold income as soon as possible, mostly carry supports like Annie, Zyra, or Sona.

It's like Riot heard us say we wanted incentive to buy item 2045 and more item 2049 upgrade options, but they somewhat thought it meant we wanted item 2049 to suck ass...

  1. item 2302 item 2301 aren't worth losing the actives of item 3069 and item 3092 . item 2303 might be worth over item 3401 , I don't play tank supports so I can't truly judge.
  2. item 2045 is more costy than ever and give very little stat.

Whoa, calm down. I was just answering the question "How many charges do the Eye support items have?"

4 charges (down from 5 charges for item 2045 )

Yeahh, under few circumstances would a Support actually choose the new Sightstone upgrades over Item Actives of the other ones. Ruby Sightstone's slightly more slot-efficient with the new passive and HP, but it's not something you'd usually want to rush first either.

Man i don't think you can get any more gold effecient than 800g for unlimited wards...it can even have stats now so it doesn't have to take up an item slot...
