Can we all agree this is just a eternal preseason?

This has felt like an eternal preseason from the start of preseason. We have already had 2 major class changes, one minor and have another one in the works. Three old champions have been reworked and dozens of items have been fundamentally altered. This feels much more like we are beta testing the ground work for League of Legends 2, then a competitive game. I'm just saying from my perceptive the game has never felt this influx for so long. We normally have hit a somewhat stable game state by now and are riding it towards the end of the year and another preseason. This feels like standing on jello. Solid but not.

This is League in the good old days when champions were coming out every 2 weeks. Lot's of surprises and fun, frankly I hope it keep going like this.

ModCaptainMårvelous11 votes

That's not entirely true. After all, these class changes and reworks are changing the game rather than being the exact same thing but in a different skin. (^:

Snowplosion9 votes

Every champion was pretty much another champion with new names back then. That is why they are reworking all the champions now.

Gulma1 votes

it's still the same though. heck even illaoi is similar to Zyra. nothing about the current league is unique.

Decrit6 votes

On that regard, everyrhing is similar. For example, every carry is just a copy of one another because they are focused on auto-attacking.

Sevixys5 votes

And every mage is the same 'cause they can cast spells :'D

And everyone can right click to move to a location OMG RITO STOP RECICLYNG MECHANICS

Every game you just destroy the enemy nexus this game is so boring Dynamic Queue sucks I'm leaving.

Right? Also omg why rito keeps the same medium where i have to download the game on a computer?! Fuck it i go back to nintendo 64.

CeexSett2 votes

If you look closely you see that champions aren't really champions, they are just images on your screen.

the difference is that season 2 was actually fun exciting and had the best ranked system league ever had which was elo and no lcs bullshit

That was a "not-yet-entirely-finished-game" that was being completed.

This is a game that is finished, polished and explored up to the last pixel.

Flux in development is alright. Flux in a game that should provide some measure of stability, isn't.

This isn't an eternal preseason. There's not enough sweeping jungle changes for that to be the case.

Remember, it's not a preseason unless the entire jungle gets reworked.

Apollogy5 votes

The current jungle is kinda nice though...

So, hopefully we won't have a preseason for a while.

MonkeyMadness5 votes

Ya, starting jg items got a complete overhaul from last season. Also removing blasting smite (ranger's trailblazer) and poaching smite in favor of the warding one.

Papa Slothy1 votes

sorry, but what was poaching smite

MonkeyMadness1 votes

Bonus gold for smiting big monsters in the enemy jungle. It was utter shit because the other smite options either had champion effects or gave healing/aoe dmg to monsters so poaching was quickly rendered obsolete.

Partholonian1 votes

The main reason it sucked was that the other team could see you had it. Counterjungling doesn't work so well when they know you're going to do it.

MonkeyMadness1 votes

It also didn't give any other utility. Blasting smite gave you health and mana based on your missing health and mana AND did aoe damage to the camp AND stunned the monsters, which opened the jungle up to a bunch of champs that were previously shit due to their lack of aoe clear potential. Challenging smite and chilling smite are still mainstays due to their champ-targetting effects, and tracker's knife gives wards. Poaching just gave you a little gold. It just wasn't worth it.

Apollogy1 votes

I realllllly love that tracker's knife, lol

MonkeyMadness1 votes

So do I, it means I can get a lens and still ward. But is a very generic cop out for the current state of the vision game if you ask me. A better way to do it would be to have the wards as part of a jungle enchantment (like warrior, cinderhulk, etc). Call it "ward bitch enchantment". Make it build from a sight stone and give the wards some bonus effect to make them feel unique. Done, I just did a better jungle update in 3 sentences than riot did this entire season...

TotalJerk15 votes

You only say it's nice because anything looks nice next to early season 5's jungle.

Mecha Incognito4 votes

No don't! Don't say the jungle is nice, they'll randomly rework it again!

GayFluffyUnicorn2 votes

Ofc it's nice for junglers. Easy af, able to gank from lvl 2/3 on and nearly every game is decided by junglers nowadays. For laners especially the solo ones it's not nice at all. Especially bullshit jungler champs like nidalee and lee.

Apollogy1 votes

Haha, I usually ban one of those champs...

People just don't know how to play when they're in the game, and they snowball too easily and too much. Games get outta hand pretty quickly.

But games are only decided by junglers if you let them. The jungle role is still a highly team orientated and supportive role, and although it's not as difficult to carry from this role as from the support role itself, they're in the same league. Jungle is a difficult role to carry with, in addition to just being overall a more difficult role to play. Mid lane and ADC are still the best roles for carrying a game towards victory.

GayFluffyUnicorn1 votes

Yup same they are way too snowbally and safe, high range, high mobility, high dmg... Well sure you can set junglers behind by invading them or good vision control thing is riot cut the vision control so you have to rely on your teammates to help you out. Yup midlane sure is the most easy lane to carry on its own but not the easiest to play. There is so much you have to keep track on.

I mean its decent. I kind of hate tanks though.

Well then, you should be happy that they're super weak right now, right?

Tanks are pretty strong, I think you might need a mental evaluation if you think otherwise.

MonkeyMadness1 votes

Ya we are in a tank jungle meta atm. Cinderhulk is in a great place right now, and tank itemization is borderline overpowered. You can pick up one damage item and then go full tank and all in the enemy backline without much difficulty.

Why the fuck are you the only other person on the boards that understands this? Everyone else just says tanks need buffs, they are balanced, ADCs are still OP. Like damn, tanks need some heavy nerfs on every single item that offers HP. Having 5000 HP with 80% reduced damage isn't fair, especially when they can kill carries, have CC, and other kinds of utility.

MonkeyMadness1 votes

I am unsure of what you are saying. Do you think tanks need nerfs?

Personally, I think tank ITEMS should be nerfed so that champs like akali and fizz can't use them so effectively, and then the tank CHAMPS should get a little buff to compensate. For the most part, tanks are balanced, it's just that the meta favors them right now due to the fact that marksmen are fairly abusive.

I mean, yeah they need nerfs. They are way too...tanky. Like damn, if I am ADC my auto attacks shouldn't be hitting you for like 100 damage with crit, especially when they have 5000 HP. By the way, off topic, but I think mages that can abuse AP tank items are OP, people like Swain, Vlad, Viktor, Azir. They are hard to kill and have too much damage for their survivability.

MonkeyMadness1 votes

Vlad and swain are recently reworked so ya they are op right now. Azir has always been op, and there's nothing that can be done. The premise of his kit makes it so he is virtually impossible to deal with, even if he gets shut down in the laning phase. Viktor is just really bursty, but also really squishy and really immobile. Unlike vlad and swain (who are also immobile) he lacks the healing.

And as for your comment about dealing 100 dmg with a crit on a 5k hp tank, that means the adc is shit. Right now, ADCs are incredibly powerful, and can shred through a tank if they build properly. If they don't get some armor pen to deal with a tank stacking armor, they yes, they'll deal 100 dmg with a crit. If they get a last whisper and build it into item 3036, that 5000hp tank is mega fucked.

They did kinda rework the jungle a little with the new dragons, the buffs/changes to red and blue.

this season feels like riot is getting on some wierd mix of weed and coke and every idea they come up with while high is quickly added to the game without anything even being checked

Many great ideas happen while under the influence.

Like penicillin, amirite.

A Ocean1 votes

No, actually that was last season. 2015 Riot kept talking about counterplay, balance and diversity, suddenly Tahm Kench / Devourer / Juggernauts / Fiora. This season at least the releases have been harmless. New champions are way more balanced, the mage item system became really great and there was nothing that instantly broke the meta upon being introduced.

Vistha Kai2 votes

The mage item system was just as good or better in the first place.

No. As someone who actually climbed to gold 2 in pre-season 6 from silver 1, this is not pre-season at all. Not even close. Games lasted on average 20-23 minutes without surrender in pre-season 6. They fixed that fast. This is a balanced state, admit it or not. Only a couple champions (Vlad, Swain, Illaoi, Fizz, Hecarim, Zyra) are really out of control at the moment.

LightIsMyPath6 votes

I think you misunderstood what op meant : It feels like preseason not because games are short or champions unbalanced, it feels like it because the game is changing too much, too fast, in a short period of time (like it usually happens in preseason). Almost every single champion / item got changed from start of the season until now, and experimental changes are kepting projected through season.
