League of Legends vs Paragon
This is just my opinion on things, don't get butthurt over it. Thank you.
I first saw Paragon about two years ago, but didn't play it because my laptop had 64MB of video, if you know what I mean. Now I have a better PC and have played the game for the last week or so. And I'm already getting more enjoyment out of it than I get from League of Legends and I want to give you the reasons why.
-
Paragon has no pre-game, other than picking your hero and (once in-game) the deck of cards and gems you'll be stuck with for the whole match. There's no free gap closer/escape called Flash and no additional actives and passives, called runes, that give you stats and/or damage literally out of the blue. No Summoner Spells, no Runes, no nothing. You rely on your hero and your hero alone.
-
You rate players, rather than report or honor them and you can choose from only one category. And there are almost a dozen of them. Not that anyone is shoving the Honor screen in your face after every match.
-
If you are tanky you can't deal damage and vise versa. Tankiness in Paragon comes 75% from your resistances and 25% from Health - even a full Tank, other than Sevarog, can hardly ever reach over 3000 Health. Or 150 Armor. And anyone that's supposed to be a tank has so little base damage it makes it a dumb choice to build damage on them.
-
There are a total of 20-ish Ability Armor and 30 Basic Armor penetration in the entire game. Plus a card that lets carries ignore Basic Armor on critically wounded enemies (under 20% Health, where they're pretty much dead anyway).
-
Games never snowball out of proportion as you rely mainly on stat points you buy with Gold - Intelligence, Vitality and Agility - and each gives you minor stat increases. And then you can only equip up to three cards if you have the stats they require. And that takes quite some time even for a 25/0/0 hero.
-
Lifesteal and Spell Vampirism are virtually non-existant. The only source of eventual self-sustain is your hero's kit.
-
The game is dynamic - your base Movement Speed is around 600 and you don't wait for a century before minions spawn. People also roam ALL the time.
-
Crowd Control is reliable. Since damage in the game is much lower, compared to League, there are stuns as long as 5 seconds. In League even a 2 second stun is too much.
-
Structures are easy to destroy, but only someone with a real deathwish would dive. Plus, Inhibitors don't respawn. You never get a lucky stall/save.
-
Critical Strike Chance can never raise above around 50% and carries don't rely on it.
-
There are very little targetted abilities; even basic attacks can be missed.
-
Super Minions aren't as tanky and damaging as a hero. They're just slightly tankier than a normal minion. And minion waves cannot be cleared nearly as quickly as in LoL, unless you're willing to deplete 30% of your Mana bar (or more).
-
The epic jungle monsters are impossible to kill with less than three heroes. And there's no free 1000 True Damage, called Smite.
-
Nobody uses the chat and nobody spams "report" for the smallest thing, let alone flame.
-
Few people want to surrender even under the worst circumstances (how many of LoL matches are won due to not defending your Nexus from the enemy minions?).
-
In champion select you have buttons to specify which role you want. Nobody spams the chat and everybody damn well knows they may not get their role anyway.
-
You reach your lane in under 15 seconds as long as your inner turrets aren't destroyed.
