In light of recent events I want to wish the devs at Riot Games good luck

Let's be real. We all got hyped for Clash and many of us rescheduled our lives to be able to participate. Then it got cancelled because of the bug that they're trying to fix. And we're all mad. I get it.

The backlash from such a mistake was inevitable, but even so, the behavior of many of my fellow players has been inexcusable. Because one thing needs to be understood - mistakes, however bad, happen. I do not know myself what happened, but what I'm sure is that, while you all get some free time in place of when Clash was supposed to take place, the devs at Riot's HQ are now sitting in front of the screen trying to figure out the bug and fix it. And if for us the last decade of League has been just fun and games (literally) for them it's what their lives and careers depend on, now even more than ever before.

Instead of raging and pointing a finger at them like a lot of people I want to thank them instead. I want to thank them for all their hard work throughout the years and for making League of Legends what it is today. I want to thank them for raising this awesome community of all kinds of people - from gamers to cosplayers, from developers to all kinds of artists, from casuals to professional streamers. I want to thank them for their unwavering spirit and for always going forward even against all odds (or against all Dynamic Queues?). For doing their jobs. And I wish them luck, hoping that nothing like this happens again.

In the end I forgive them for failing to launch Clash and giving us ARURF without the ability to trade champions in such short notice. I ask you, whoever you are, reading this right now, to also forgive them; if you can't at least calm down and do not insult them, because...

...we are only human.

Thank you for reading.

unless they are sending death threats, no one is over reacting, riot is a company that makes far to much money to make the level of mistakes they have been making this years. We are the funding back bone of the company, no us, no riot, at this point we are sick of the incompetent coders that they are, we are sick of their balance team, and demand new staff that can treat the game we love with dignity and respect, and not some money cash cow.

That being said

-i'm positive people were fired over this, so that's the main reason i'm not to mad at riot, in no company can you make this level of a mistake and expect to keep your job.

Keep in mind, there were several patches between Clash beta and release. There have been game-breaking bugs before from unanticipated interactions with new patches. They will happen again.

Any one else remember the Riven bug from several years ago? They tried to quietly hot-fix it as soon as it was discovered. A player discovered the bug and posted it to Reddit. It exploded to the point Riot was forced to completely shut down ranked for a couple days. Players got banned for trying to copy the exploit.

While I don't know what the Clash bug was, if it was anywhere near that scale, it wasn't just a matter of shutting down a highly anticipated game mode. They may have also been trying to protect players from themselves.

Thank you ExpStealer. Finally a forum post about Riot Games that isn't either in all caps or have incredibly large amounts of profanity. I have found that Riot is one of the best companies out there, listening to their player base, and delivering updates constantly.

Besides the reason you mentioned, players are mad because they see this Clash bug as just one of many bigger fuck-ups from Riot. And this is my personal opinion, but let's not forget that we already had Clash before, and it was working. While I'm not sure how come it wasn't working this time, I can understand that bugs can always appear. But the thing that's worrying me the most is that I think Riot isn't careful enough on stuff like this. Don't forget Riot is holding the most popular game (which it was for several years not) under thier belt. The company of their caliber (did I say the word correctly? xD) should be EXTRA careful on stuff like Clash, giving the fact it will be held every weekend. This shit can give them bad rep in the long run.

It is unfortunate when we wait for a game event to happen and it gets canceled, but maybe it is a good time to reflect on why some of us may be more emotional about it then others? This is a very fun video game but it is Just a game right? One given us to play for free? I think it shouldn't have any more impact on us then watching TV or reading a book: just a little fun to pass the time!

I think as a community that if we remember this is just a game, we dont always win, and losing isnt the end of everything, that we as a whole can find more enjoyment and less disappointment when things like this happen!

We have to believe that Riot didn't want to cancel the Clash event after so much build up and would of very much preferred that we could of played it and been happy!

The cancellation of Clash was 100% unacceptable.

  1. I missed a funeral for it (now not only will others also skip out on my funeral since they can go "AHA you didn't attend X funeral" but I get that loss without having gained the benefit of playing Clash)
  2. I have to re-schedule my wedding (its going to take months and months, who knows... by then the relationship could be over before I secure the marriage for money gains)
  3. I didn't get to attend my son's concert because I was at home hoping to see Riot patch-fix this thing (now he's going to turn into a very bad kid from the lack of parental attention, might even start playing League)
  4. I bought a ton of new skins (tens of thousands of RP) in anticipation of this Clash thingy (and now it ain't happening, I'm stuck with useless skins, and the RP/money ain't coming back)
  5. I was able to control myself (not beating up other people IRL) and manage my anger because I knew I would get to purge my hatred and anger on Clash day in a high stakes tournament... now I can no longer do so (in retaliation, I've destroyed half of my own house and its going to take months to buy everything back)

TLDR... the cancellation of Clash is 100% unacceptable; the "exaggerated" responses to Clash shows bad judgement calls from Riot, not from the player base

in light of recent events, i hope riot and its devs all lose their jobs and live on food stamps . They side with feeders and trolls rather then the community, because those little kiddies by the most merch and skins.
