Anyone else excited for the Cho'Gath changes?

Cho’Gath was my first champion when I started playing league and to this day I love love love playing him. His kit is so fun and he is the definition of a slow moving movie monster. Problem is I could never play him in ranked since one or two deaths really set him back due to his stacks falling off. The PBE changes for him look amazing and just what he needs. He has always been a great Jungle pick since he has good sustain and hella good clear speeds. His ganks are meh, but honestly having him stomp into lane will at least blow a flash if not force a back. I’m also excited to see the %HP ratio on his ult making pure tank Cho more viable. And yes he is going to be able to build mostly AP and get free tank stats or vise veras, free 1500HP is a lot, but honestly he’s not mobile enough to be a new Ekko or Fizz.

I would at least leave a small AP ratio on ult, like 20% or so so the AP doesn't feel wasted. On the other side, another stacking champion! P.S. Cho was also my first champ, and I still love him! (lvl 7)

I normally play him mid when I get autofilled there and we have a full squish team.... then again this rarely happens even though I play with a support main. Still gonna at least try him out again with these changes.

As a longtime Cho'Gath main: This change is aimed in a weird direction.

The problem with Cho as a tank isn't only his health stacks falling off, it's also how inconsistent he is. All other tanks have either a way to get into a backline or a guaranteed way to lock someone down. Cho doesn't have either, his only CC is telegraphed and slow, very inconsistent. This makes him a really mediocre tank, even if he gets a million HP, he will just be shredded by %hp items while doing nothing but being a punching bag for any mobile champion.

This is why Cho is best played AP, as most Cho'Gath mains would tell you, either AP tanky or full AP it's okay. However, by eliminating the AP ratio on R, his building AP is kinda discouraged, there aren't many items that boost both the damage of his kit AND the damage of his R. And he can't just stack anything with AP + HP on it.
