Maybe you shouldn't balance the game around a class that NEVER builds Defense

Why are adcs balanced around not having defensive stats? You mean you are dying to that Master Yi with that build that has not one single hp or resist item? well we should nerf that champ who killed you. Meanwhile continue to invest 100% of your gold into damage and 0% into survivability.

Strategic builds are for other roles

If you dont build defensive items at wukong vs zed and he kills you... you are an idiot. If zed kills you as an adc and you didn't build defensive items... then it's time to nerf zed.

Well hes, cause the adc literally has 4 champions to protect him. as a Top lane you're supposed to zone away people, as the mid laner you're supposed to burst people down that try to get close, as the support you're support to crowd control things AKA Zed, as the jungler you're supposed to shut the zed down before he even gets a chance to get too much dmg that you cant peel him away from your adc.

The attack damage carry role is meant to have no defensive items, because they have these array of champions designed to protect them.

@ as a wukong main, pls dont assume zed can kill wukong if wukong goes full damage. Wukong can straight up win that fight ;)

I think it's completely bullshit that ADCs get to 1v1 now. They are supposed to be a team dependent carry class. If they are survivable in a 1v1 against other champs with equal gold, that means in a teamfight, they are invincible against other classes - which they essentially are. Just played a game against a fed Rengar. Poor thing couldn't do shit past laning phase since he'd get stunned mid-leap sometimes and then blow up before he hits the ground. That's how it's supposed to work: team peels for ADC or engages for ADC, and they get to dish out damage to targets that can't fight back. It's not supposed to be "lol I can either duel your assassins/tanks/bruisers 1v1, OR melt you all in a teamfight."
