smite still isn't adaptive

red/blue and green warding smites offer no versatility, theres still a very clear and well defined "best choice" for the champion.

so with that in mind whats wrong with another 3 smites?

im sure theres something you can think of. myself personally id like to see a smite thats the reverse of red, but makes you tankyer.

You know red smite gives you damage reduction from the target you use it on right?

thats a 1v1 dueling smite.

im talking +10% armor/mr, something along those lines for team fights.

how about stealing 10% of the enemy's BONUS mr/armor, as to not encourage smiting the adc

That is really, really strong compared to other smite upgrades. If you wanted some sort of AoE tankiness it would need to be a short duration shield or something. The only other viable "tanky" smite I could think of that wouldn't be straight broken would be a small heal on hit, kind of like old shen q. It really seems like a lot of work for not a lot of value added to the game since a lot of tanks would still go red for early damage/reduced damage or blue for the slow (or green in competitive).

I don't really see why that'd be healthy. Basically you're getting an offensive spell to give you %resistances which stack heavily on a tank. It wouldn't be useful in ganks, and invades it would fall flat to 1v1s.

It's only purpose would be to scale into the late game and make you more durable than you actually are based on a short CD summoner spell that you want to use for objective control normally.

Personally I'd like to see the return of purple smite as it can bring more versatility to the jungle. Obviously not in its same form because of how camps were changed.

like i said, just add more options, dont have to be mine. the smites as they are are far too linear and one dimensional.

Rito designed enchants to be fairly direct for a champ, and they do have a "preffered" enchant for each jg champ. There are cases, though, for example, if you were going kayn jg, you could pick up cinderhulk if your team needed a full on tank, or warrior if you didnt need a tank that badly, or you could carry better. Sure, you lose some damage/cdr, or hp, but enchants are meant to have tradeoffs.

I now realize that you were talking about actual smites, not enchants. woops

They removed previous smites and changed poachers dirk smite after season 5? was it?

I don't think a smite that gives you individual tankyness would be a good idea in the current meta. Tanks are already a bit overloaded at the moment.

But Green smite tends to be a good alternative for people who will normally take Red or Blue. Except for Lee Sin, he absolutely needs green.

Technically, Tracker's knife isn't a smite upgrade. It just tacks on a mini sight stone onto your Jungle item. And technically, Lee Sin doesn't need it. He could still get away with sightstone, which he used long before tracker's knife was a thing.

Personally, I think the Tracker's knife it superior in almost all cases. Aside from the fact that move vision is good. The Blue and Red smite upgrades become moot if your not using them against champs. While that may sound like a fair trade off for the enhanced smite, I simply find it better to make use of smite to enhance clear speed. (And if I'm using it on clearing faster, I won't have it available for ganks.)
