Nautilus's Health Scaling Is Worse Than Tristana's

While looking into Nautilus as a pick for jungle, I found it curious that his level 18 HP is actually outclassed by ADCs like MF, Jhin, Tristana, Kalista and Draven. Even Teemo, Ahri, Veigar and Shaco get more. His HP scaling is terrible for a tank and nearly 200 HP less than is typical. It seems really out of character given his role.

Even if his clear were OK and his kit fit my comp., giving up that many base stats seems unappealing. Only his shield even scales with HP so I don't understand the great caution with his HP scaling.

Yes, but unlike everyone you just mentioned, Nautilus is expected to be building lots of bonus HP, whereas ADCs and mages are expected to build pure damage. Their health scaling is better in a vacuum because they still need to not instantly die when late game rolls around when they build appropriately for their role.

Wouldn't want tanks to be effective... the assassins would cry and RIOT knows that they spend the most $$ on skins.

ADCs don't have 600 shields on a low cooldown.

This is almost on the same level as "Sion has the lowest base HP of any tank"... completely ignoring his W.

But we can't expect the general Silver player base to understand how base stats work

I love how everyone here is just trying to call Nautilus shit based SOLELY on his HP gain. There's no mention of his base HP, which is higher than Tristana's (in which she surpasses him at level 8), nor is there mention of base armor (his is higher), his armor growth (his is higher), his base MR (his is higher), his MR growth (his is higher, see the trend here?), base regen (again, his is higher), and for bonus points, his base AD AND AD growth is higher than Tristana's.

So you're trying to make an extremely limited comparison of Nautilus to Tristana based on ONE stat. Across the board, Nautilus' defensive stats leave Tristana alone and reeling in the gutter. So while his HP growth may be lower, he more than makes up for it with his defensive stats.

Tanks in general are fucked and have been for over two years because riot would rather everyone play big LC$ instanukers, assassins, and epin meme characters like Fiora Riven Urgot .
