Why is Veteran's Scars 45 HP and not 50?
I thought Riot liked clean numbers. ;) I think it was overnerfed anyway.

I would never take Veteran's Scars over Runic Armor, even on non-shield, non-lifesteal champs.
Veteran's Scars is basically useless now.
Because we're in an assassin meta where late game doesn't exist anymore except in rare occasions. But seriously, why was this nerfed in the first place? You'd think if thunderlord's is allowed to exist this long then riot wouldn't care about a balanced mastery, then again riot doesn't care about balance.
Eh, as someone that played during season 4 this is not an assassin meta yet. We still have champs that are hard to kill, you need to invalidate defensive builds entirely before we get back to that monstrosity.

This meta seems more like an AD meta than an assassin meta.
I say AD meta because we have lots of AD bruisers, AD assassins, AD junglers, and of course ADCs, running there and dominating.
Season 3, now THAT was an assassin meta.

Oh god Old Kassa was a fucking %%%%whistle.
He was the reason why I never wanted to go mid, because going mid meant that there was good chance that I'd have to go up against him, and fighting him was about as fun as a weekend with ISIS.
Ah... the good old days of 98% ban rate Kassadin for seasons on end...
Even if it gave 50 HP instead of 45 I would NEVER get it over Runic Armor on ANY champion in the game personally.

I still get Veteran's Scars on champions without natural sustain. As low as 45 health is, it is better than 8% extra healing potential on champions that do not have healing potential to begin with

Even with no built-in sustain, Runic Armor also increases the healing from potions, plus base health regen and regen from items like Doran's Shield. And it also increases the effectiveness of shields (including spell shields like Hexdrinker). It just seems better overall compared to a bit of flat health IMO.
I'm debating whether it'll be as good on Shen after his rework

These items give 8% extra healing/regen/life steal effect from:

8% extra shielding from these items:

Lastly 8% extra healing/shielding form these characters that may be in your game:

So compare all the synergy it has with all the champs that directly benifit from it, with all the items that benifit from it, on top of all the champs that could heal or shield you with 45 HP.
So even if you somehow play a champ that builds none of the listed items, NOT EVEN POTIONS, and none of those champs are in your game.... You still get 8% extra healing at the spawn when you back, so it saves a few seconds in the early part pre-homeguard effect.
Runic armor would have to be up against.... probably as much as 100 HP for me to consider it (20 HP per rank). Even then 100 HP is dwarfed by the late game stacking benefits of runic armor on many champs.
Im not sure what champions you play that you cant benefit from Runic Armor, but I cant think of one. Just the 162 HP from
is potentialy worth more than the 45 HP if you buy several, but if you go
then all 3 charges give 12 extra HP per charge or 36 for all 3, and even more than that with Secret Stash for 10% potion duration. In fact Runic + Stash with
comes to a total of 534.6 healing vs 450 with neither. Thats another 84 HP worth of sustain, and why I personaly would need V. Scars to be around 100 HP to lure me away.
I know youre not saying V. Scars is superior or anything, I just cant see where it even rivals it or is better in any situation. Im just saying I very strongly disagree that it is somehow more use-able on any champion regardless of their potential for self healing, 45 HP is just basically half an auto attack... an early game auto attack.

If Runic Armor really works on Sterak's Gage then I guess it would work on GA too? Are you sure it works on Sterak's though? I'd also not have expected the fountain to heal you faster and it's interesting if you tested that too but it would make sense. I guess it would work on Maw's shield too but I haven't tested and item interactions are often buggy.
Because Riot hates tanks. 5 hp? Why would they throw them a bone.
yeah riot hates tanks, that's why they trashed last whisper so hard people don't even buy it when the enemy team has 3 tanks
The better question is why is veteran's scars so underpowered after the nerf :/
Because who the hell needs a balance mastery? Not Riot, no Sir! I thought by now it was obvious that Riot can't leave a good thing alone. They're absolute masters of fixing things that aren't even broken.
It should be 45+5/level so it starts off at 50 and doesn't lose all relevance as the game goes on. Late game this would give 135 HP, making it not complete garbage on 0 sustain no shield champs when compared to Runic Armour.
I've got better question: why it's flat number instead of % number?
It was too good on tanks. It used to be a %.
They're gonna make it 40 then. [slayer-jinx-catface]
5HP too OP, it's whole 1/10th of little jungle creeps damage.
Why is MF's level 1 Q cost 43?
What demon did this?
