Not enough item choices in Mid lane (mages)

Does anyone else feel like the item choices for mid lane mages are a bit lacking early/mid game? I feel like every mage who uses mana is forced to build Lost chapter into Ludens first item or get completely smeared.

As it stands, the following items grant mana and can reasonably make sense on most mid lane "caster" mages: However, Archangels and RoA are both designed with around the idea of "buy now- use later", and their build paths are downright awful when compared with Ludens echo. It also doesn't help when archangels is the only way for a squishy caster like or to build mana regen in mid lane. Faerie charm now exclusively builds into support items ( ) that are pretty bad investments in a solo lane. Anyway that's my two cents. Anyone else feel the same way?
