I Honestly Don't Understand Why They Dont Just Turn Solo Queue Back On Literally Right Now

If the majority of your players and income want something that is already implemented into the game and not being used, why don't you just turn it on and make them happy instead of trying to perfect a system that might not even work?

I think when Riot says that the majority of players like Dynamic Queue, they mean the causal players who don't care about being competitive.

The casual players who hate Dynamic Queue are probably not the type who frequents the boards, if they ever go onto them at all, so they just play in silence, giving Riot false information on how many people play Dynamic Queue and like it.

Even if Riot isn't lying about what their statistics say, they're faulty, and have far too many unknown variables to be trusted in any capacity.

EDIT: And a lot of the vocal Dynamic Queue supporters probably think the new Champion Select and DQ are the same thing.

The problem is that DQ is meant for normals, and even then the idea of huge premades was so annoying it drove me to ranked. I'm competitive, I don't want to play for fun by fucking around, I play for fun by challenging games with people of an equal skill and experience.

Most people don't have any trouble distinguishing between Dynamic Queue and New Champ Select. This just keeps getting re-hashed for points.

The fact is, the "Majority" of players isn't the actual majority. The actual majority, which is not on the boards, either is apathetic or likes DQ. Riot's player surveys have shown that. The boards is not the majority of the players, but in fact, a very small minority.

I think the roundtable has disproven your statement. While before it was true we didn't know how many people preferred DQ over SoloQ, the video has a much larger segment of the population and it was overwhelmingly negative. And Riot's surveys were very biased

Anags3 votes

Over 500k viewed that and like 23k gave it a downvote. Yeah that sounds like a majority to me lol.

Sorry but you are wrong. Most people could care less about dynamicq as long as queue times don't get insanely long. I am among these people. And the queue time issue is basically related to new champ select and a lack of support players. I bet this is true even for high elo.

How many people do you know that seek out the support role. I don't know any. Everyone I know plays it only when forced to.

nerfedsincebirth2 votes

I main support along with 2 of my buddies. I generally only play something different if I have had a few games with really bad adc's just to mix it up. The real frustration is when your team is doing awful and you are stuck as a support and can't do much to change it.

I really don't think its that people don't care, its that like me there really isn't much point wasting time posting on these boards. DQ sucks for those of us that like to que solo. I constantly get matches that are a landslide win/loss and its really boring. This used to happen occasionally, but now it is literally almost every game. This coupled with the ridiculous influx of smurfs/boosters recently, many of us are about to give up on ranked completely.

To be honest, if they brought back dominion and let you earn champ mastery in ARAM I would never play ranked again. It just isn't fun...

Yes and only 8k like it.

So basically, no one likes it.

That's not exactly a random statistic to make a Random Sample Survey accurate. People who dislike Dynamic Q are more likely to watch that video, because the people who don't care, wouldn't care about that video.

That people who like Dynamic Queue, will watch the video to see, what game devs have to say about their favourite game mode.

The door swings both ways, so don't spread bias like "Only those who hate DQ want to watch the video."

Pika Fox3 votes

Humans have a negativity bias. We are more prone to act to something we perceive as negative.

Someone is more likely to dislike a video they feel strongly against than like a video they strongly agree with. Hitting the like button is an action that takes effort, same with hitting the dislike button, same as finding the actual video itself, same as commenting on said video. People are more likely to go out of their way to do all these things for something they strongly dislike than strongly like due to negativity bias.

Riot's player surveys have shown nothing more than that Riot will ask misleading questions and post the biased results to promote their own agenda. The question asked was no "Do you prefer dynamic or solo queue?" The question was "Do you like being able to played ranked with your friends. And absolutely anybody who was on a ranked team in previous seasons was obviously going to answer yes to this in vain hopes that Riot would improved the ranked teams queues. We were stupid enough to think that with clubs coming out, we wouldn't be limited to 9 players per team anymore. But Riot just threw ranked teams out the window along with solo queue and now we're stuck with dynamic queue.

Btw, if the majority of the playerbase truly wanted dynamic queue, then adding solo queue would honestly be the best thing Riot could do to promote dynamic queue. If you release two systems at once and let the playerbase decide which one lives and which one dies, then you're completely in the right to support the one that thrives in the face of competition. So if dynamic queue is truly more popular, it would best solo queue and then everybody whining about dynamic queue would be forced to shut up as survival of the fittest determines that dynamic queue deserves to be the focus of ranked. The very fact that you don't want solo queue means you already know which queue is more popular even though you're going to claim it's dynamic queue.

The question to ask is, should the people that are apathetic overrule the people that are the most passionate about the game simply because they are the majority? What I've gathered from all of these discussions thus far is that the majority of people don't particularly care one way or another but that there's a core of heavily competitive and influential players that vehemently disagree with the direction it's taking the game.

That core playerbase is what made League of Legends strong to begin with, and making such a significant change that negatively affects that core while slightly improving the experience for the apathetic majority is something that should require a lot of forethought. I'm aware Riot wants to appeal to everyone with ranked play, but realistically speaking Dynamic Queue sacrifices a lot more than Solo + Ranked 5s.

Troll for Trump2 votes

The survey is biased and slanted to favor DynaQ. A lot of people that took the survey did not distinguish between DynaQ and the new champ select. The surveys was a largescale survey that only happened once.

Riot has the power to survey all the players. Even if they made up some statistic, people would still think it true, because of it.

We, as players, can't create a ingame survey.

So we survey people on Reddit, Boards, etc. and they all have the majority disliking DynaQ. Not only that, even LCS players hate it. Riot helped to create a "mini survey" for the entire playerbase with the DynaQ roundtable video, and yeah, the like: dislike ratio is pretty dang big.

Isn't it kind of hypocritical saying that considering most Dynamic Queue haters also spout crap without any evidence?

Troll for Trump2 votes

Anti DynaQ has a lot of posts with legiti information. There are several surveys for it, and the general reasoning behind it (which has been explained in-depth) is now known.

Have you ever seen a in-depth pro DynaQ post? No.

Riot doesn't even bother looking at the logic behind anti DynaQ.

What happens when the people that hate DynaQ get a chance to speak out?

Look at the DynaQ roundtable discussion...

Leetri1 votes

Maybe you don't see them because there's literally no point in spending all that time writing it since it will just get mass-downvoted by the circlejerk anyway? Just look at all the comments that support DQ, they get downvoted so much they stop being visible. Also again, people mention their surveys and their legitimacy but at the same time they dismiss Riot's survey.

Troll for Trump1 votes

The DynaQ supporters dismiss our surveys just as much.

The difference is we've done multiple, and in more recent times; Riot only did one, which was vague/biased, and is out of date.

There are actually DynaQ posts that get downvoted. The ones that are just complete qq and "Bad ones" often do get that. Some still do make it to front page, but most of the ones that make it there have explanations.

This and it would probably mess up current rankings, but what does that matter when solos are up against and with premades.

Because "the majority" isn't the majority.

Do I think DQ is not great? Yeah pretty much. Is DQ better for normies and casual below Diamond? Likely.

There's probably just a huge amount of people who don't even give a fuck. Besides: If it was truly unpopular, ala SKT skins? They'd pull it.

You can find a myriad of posts stating otherwise.

I play at Plat level and I despise DQ, the game is nearly unplayable because unless I queue with others, it is just a throw of the dice to see if I am (unfortunately) matched against a premade which is a near-guaranteed loss. The game is dying and Riot refuses to act.

By the way, they don't turn on Solo-Queue because it would instantly kill Dynamic Queue.

ModCaptainMårvelous2 votes

I can but then again people who are happy don't usually talk about it. While I too dislike it, I'm just saying that...y'know. If it really -was- a problem they would have reverted it. Worth noting that while premades are worse, there have always been premades in ranked. Duo, sure, but they've always been there. And...game dying? Yeah, seen that once since S2.

Also: Dynamic Queue needs solo queue players to fill four-man comps and you're dividing ranked even further. It wouldn't kill dynamic queue, it'd just make queue times in both longer as they struggle to find the one solo queuer in DQ and the one support player in SQ.

All that said, I -still- think the correct course of action is true solo queue and 2/3/5 man DQ.

DQ was already the status quo for normal queues, this change only affects Ranked play.

Should these people that don't give a fuck be valued more than the people that actually care about the direction the game is going simply because they are the majority?

Zarkkast3 votes

Because Dynamic Queue cannot coexist with Solo Queue.

Otherwise premades of 4 would either never get completed or have absurd queue times. Premades of 3 would also be affected but not as hard.

They just need to remove Dynamic Queue completely.

Lywoe2 votes

don't worry we will get a useless champion before they fix any Queue! No one will ask for this champ either.

Lirik1 votes

damn this is so true ... riot made me pass a survey lately and there was a question about champions is there too much champ or not ? .... YES FFS AND WE ONLY HAVE TO SEE 43 of the 131 CHAMPS IN LCS !!! meanwhile 93% of the champs are used in dota lcs... oh god

Jorencice2 votes

That's because the way the games are balanced are COMPLETELY different.

In dota 2 hard counters exist and when I say hard I mean HARD as in you have like a 5% chance to beat your counter.

Which I don't think us very fun.

Completely different teams, a champion being released has no bearing whatsoever on the timetable for social system changes.

Lywoe2 votes

if people can't master the champs they have why introduce new ones? You are making people who come in worst at the game rather than better. Hence why Bronze is 1000 times worst every season.
