@Riot how did ekko's kit get through...

Anyone got tips on how to lane against this guy? Literally the hardest lane i've ever seen, how are you suppose to trade with him? I was doing great at lvl 3, and almost killed him but he starts with flask....what i'm mad about is it seems impossible to trade with this champion, every champion has windows and HE DOES TOO but it seems pointless, his cds are long but no matter how low you get him pre 6 he has flask, then after 6 if he thinks its time to get on you or you think its time to get on him, he has the burst of an assassin, but then he can also heal all his hp? what are you suppose to do against that? like no counter play wtf...you cant have high burst, and a soraka ult in one kit, how did this get through i'm literally shocked. How is, me playing well making good trades, and then playing perfect in the actual fight and we both get to 2% hp, but then he heals to 60% hp okay? Like, my reward of playing fucking good and getting good trades and playing way better then him in the lane should be a kill or him going B, but nah, not this champ. ONLY this champ is it like that...literally what the fuck riot. Heres a champ where the player doesnt have to understand how trades and lane works and he can beat someone who does just by knowing how to play the champ when the 1v1 fight actually comes. I know how to do both play the lane and 1v1 as my champ but I lose ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Basically, if you're fighting Ekko then you either hope to kill him when his ult is down or avoid that hologram like the plague.

He's still got the squishiness of an all in assassin past his shield and heal.

I completely agree. Each role has a weakness. Tanks don't do damage, Fighters can't tank, Mages can't move, Supports can't do damage (usually,) ADC's can't survive without a team. And assassins are supposed to be vulnerable after killing someone. Most fit the bill, besides my two least favorite champs: Katarina and Ekko. Kat can still have all of her abilities up after killing a squishy, allowing her to escape or kill again. Ekko can kill someone, get focused, then just blink away, healed and ready to reengage. The only weaknesses to these champs is A) the jungler camping lane and harassing so hard that they have to back, or B) silences, which are pretty hard to come by.

I think Swain would be a good counter-pick. Swain has the range to harass. He can get really tanky after item 3027 and dramatically increase sustain with item 3152. Swain has a Snare and a Slow, good against Ekko if combo'ed right. His ult and general damage over time abilities are better against Ekko because Ekko's heal gets stronger if he is bursted (within 4 seconds).

An alternative counter-pick would be Malzahar. Malzahar has no other movement reducing CC other than his ultimate but once you hit six the ultimate's CC is significantly stronger than Swain's CC.

Malzahar is my best middle lane champion.

If you can't burst ekko don't fight him. He gets stronger the longer the fight progresses (three stacks, W, ult catches up etc) Dodge the freaking Q. At least dodge it on the return. Sidestepping is amazing. Realize W has an extremely audible cast sound. Look where ekko wants to fight you and don't go there. Ekko has a lot of damage built into just his auto attacks with the three strike burst and w passive which is why he feels frustrating to play against because you literally can't dodge an auto. However this make him very feast or famine in that he either destroys anyone who gets close or unable to do much with his burst
