To much burden of guilt on "trash talkers"

Any competetive game I think naturally comes with an amount of trash talk. Its going to happen. Of course there is a line between being just vile and evil and just normal trash talk.

But to me the problem is so much work being done to punish people who get mouthy in games. Yeah, no one likes being called out, but thats the nature of being part of a team and letting your team down.

But Riot has gone to extremes to try to make this game a pretty little world of candy and butterflies and rainbows, and it is unrealistic and absurd. Everyone has the mute option. No one uses it. That should be on them. If someone isnt being homophobic/racist/threatening or other over the top things, I dont see the problem with someone swearing or telling someone they suck. Deal with it or mute them. Its a REALLY simple option. Yet people would rather sit there and keep arguing with someone who talks smack then stil report them later.

The problem of toxicity isnt going to go away, and large parts of the reason people get so frustrated are failings on Riots end with the whole system they have in place. Excessivley "big brothering" a natural part of a competetive scene is over the top. The automated system is too stringent on things that arent truly offensive, just rude.

If people dont want to be called out, they should play better. If they cant handle a little trash talk, they have the option of muting said player. The community has gotten weak, and overly sensetive

So true.

Thats just silly. The context for each situation is so absurdly different that the comparison is just silly.

I'm saying punishing people for being a little grouchy/venting/calling someone out is ridiculous. Said player has the option to mute.

Again keep in mind I made it clear that over the top REAL toxicity is one thing, and just being irritated and blunt is another. And the latter is not so ridiculous that it deserves a heavy hand of cencorship to protect the soft feelings of the tender.

The whiny pussy players whose poor little feelings get hurt from losing a video game also have the option to not be toxic.

The great irony of you telling off people who report trash talking players for being "overly sensitive" is that the trash talker is so emotionally invested in a video game that he feels the need to lash out like a small child whose bottle was just taken away.

Constructive criticism is fine. I've given criticism to my team and have turned around losing games by being the only one not flaming a feeding ADC. I did this by suggesting ways for her (was a Cait player) to help the team even though she was behind. Raging solves nothing. If you're going to knowingly defy the rules put in place for the game, be a fucking adult and accept the consequences.

exaggerating doesnt help you prove whatever point you are trying to make. Being justifiable irritated and raging are two different things.

In the end that doesnt change the fact that people need to toughen up or learn to use the tools given to them for ignoring these kinds of attitudes

You're right, the people getting trash talked need to toughen up. Not the sensitive fragile flowers who are raging over how someone else is performing in a video game. These are well-adjusted and stable individuals.

Anyone can choose whether to go "Hey Lord Dusteon, please play a bit safer" and "what the fuck stop being so bad retard". Anyone can choose between "hey, you might want to build a support item for the extra gold and active" and "wtf trash support gg".

Do you see the difference? You can choose between constructively and civilly pointing out what someone is, in your opinion, doing wrong, or you can be a douche. Nobody wants to play with a douche. If you are a douche, please step back and try to be a civil, non toxic person people actually want to play with instead of report and avoid.

Ive gone with the nice approach and have said "please go back when you get low", and or "please stop feeding" and some have tried to say that was being toxic.

In many cases being polite does nothing at all, and leads to said frustration.

Face it, constructive critisism is never taken in this game. Ever. And usually I see people BEING constructive at first. "Dude you have died twice hug tower and farm" a pretty accurate and common phrase that gets said. Then said person does NOT do that or anything close to that and dies 3 or 4 more times, same for other situations. More often then not I see people TRYING to be constructive. But when the person pays no regard to anything people have said and keeps trying the same bad things over and over, a certain amount of irritation is warrented and justified I feel.

Just "play better". Sure, because that top laner who is losing lane and didn't get help surely isn't going to rage or afk even though the jungler got every dragon and fed their adc 20 kills so they are winning. I rarely see toxicity purely based on playing bad, if a lane isn't getting ganks then they afk even if the team is winning, if they die once they will rage and afk, if the support happens to be out of wards because they haven't been able to recall, better rage at them too! Oh look, our mid missed a skill shot even though they landed most of them, better call them a retard for it even though they have been doing well.

I've lost quite a few games that my team was winning over people doing that.

"If people dont want to be called out, they should play better." Toxicity doesn't start only when someone plays poorly.

I didnt say thats the only time it happens. My pint is though in these specific situations. If someone keeps doing shitty things that are hurting their team, personally I find it acceptable for people to vent/comment on it (within reason aka no go kill yourself or asbergs lines ect)

But still the option to mute is still there. Soon as you hear someone say one thing, why not mute? No, people will argue with the guy who made the first comment all match, THEN report them. How is that fair? They have the option to not deal with it, and insted helped egg it on, probably being equally idiotic, and then they file a report and an automated system does a terrible job of doing what only a human (aka tribunal) should be trusted doing.

Thats my view anyways
