Xp Boosts are just a fraud to trick us to waste money on nothing

TrikzterzArma··63 votes·6,624 views

As the title said.

I bought a 15 win Xp boost, and with that I went from lvl 30 to lvl 35. Those levels gives ~5000 Blue Essence

XP boosts doubles the XP you get from each win, meaning that I still would have received half of that XP, which means I would have gotten to lvl 32,5 without it.

I still lost some of the games in which the XP boosts didn't grant any bonus XP, so I should be lvl 32 if we just counts the wins without counting the boost and the losses.

That means ~2000 BE.

Let me remind you of that the 15 Win boost costs 990 RP. That's more than a 6300 BE champ costs.

You see where I'm going? I got completely fooled when I bought it. Selling the boosts is just a fraud.

I didn't even get halfway to buy a 975 RP champ with the 990 RP boost I bought. It seriously isn't OK.

Edit. This post isn't about that Day-boosts are better, I know that now. You can't justify this fraud just because there are better boosts to buy. It doesn't matter. I bought this boost, and I got fooled. THAT is what this post is about.

XP boosts have been around for years, to let newbs and alt accounts get up to level 30 sooner, so they can play ranked.

It was never cost beneficial. It was just a way to get into ranked faster. If you thought that buying XP boosts would suddenly become a good idea when they removed the level cap, I'm sorry but not exactly sympathetic.

TrikzterzArma2 votes

Yeah but now they've combined leveling up and gaining in game currency, which means Leveling up faster = gaining BE faster. It's not just to get to lvl 30 as soon as possible any longer.

I don't know why you say all this when the system isn't even the same as before.

What exactly was the goal of buying the XP Boost in your mind?

The primary purpose of an XP Boost is to accelerate level growth, which has a side effect of increasing Blue Essence. You paid for the level up, and ignoring your losses, you leveled up twice as much as you would have otherwise. You got what you paid for, an XP Boost. The Blue Essence was icing on that level 35 cake.

You're frustrated because you spent money for something and didn't get the results you wanted, I understand that. But do realize, you paid for something that does a different job than what you wanted.

Prozzak1 votes

But it is. The purpose of it is to allow you to level up faster, it is and never will be meant to allow you to gain BE faster or at a better rate. Its primary use is still going to be to allow people to get to level 30 faster and hence into ranked easier. It will never be to do what you for some reason thought it would be to do.

Not Riots fault you did not understand this, it is not a "fraud" because nowhere have they ever said that you get more BE for your buck (or this case RP) compared to just using it to unlock a champ.

It exists as a way to convert $$ to BE

Velzard of Koz1 votes

Which technically is buying the champion directly. When you purchase 4800 champ you convert $$ to BE except for that it directly unlocks the champ. The question is whether it is worth to keep it being much less efficient to convert $$ to BE that way than to directly purchase champ (or possibly chroma with the BE shop), since the only advantage is that you can pay with $$ for your Mastery If you choose the boost, since that is the only other BE product I can recall.

u dont level up to get blue esscene the xp boost is only to level you up. ur the one who thougth it would be worth it in blue eccsence.

Riot just balanced rebuilt the entire IP/BE system around getting blue essence for champs/mastery by leveling up. That's the whole only point of levels now.

You level up in order to get BE, therefore you buy XP boosts to get BE.

You are stupid enough to buy win xp boosts instead of time. Thats your fault

This does not eliminate the legitimacy of the OP's main point and issue. They purchased a product that did not produce its money's worth.

Prozzak2 votes

Except his viewpoint of what makes it worthwhile is skewed because he thinks it is meant for something that it is not. It is meant to level him up faster, which it did. It was never meant to give more BE than just buying a champ is worth. That was and never will be the purpose of the win boosts.

I can only play for about 3-4 days every second week.

Then stop wasting time and either play or don't play :)

Of course, they didn't if you LOST. They were "WIN" boosts, only if you had day boosts on would you still gain increased EXP in a loss.

TrikzterzArma4 votes

I think I clearly said in my post that the Xp I got from losses only accounts to half a level

SEKAI3 votes

It used to be the case that XP is just for lvl1-30 for faster account leveling, and there is a separate IP boost that increases your in-game currency earn rate after your account maxes out at 30.

And of course when levels and IP became merged, all balance whether intentional or otherwise, are thrown out of the window.

Generally, I'd say that you simply don't buy any RP atm, only do so until this player resource disaster dies down and the outcome makes sense. That's what I'm doing now, as unfortunate as it sounds.

Quepha2 votes

IP boosts were also just as much of a scam, they only made sense to buy if you were racing to unlock runes to play ranked ASAP and were willing to directly buy all the champs you wanted.

Yavasvertel2 votes
  1. You are getting currency instead of stock so it is comprehensible that your net BE gains are lower.

  2. You are also getting exp. Remember that levels are now a social expression thing kinda like skin and icons.

Wait, what are you complaining about exactly?

That even without the XP boost you would have leveled up?

No shit. It boosts your XP gain. That’s it.

XP is directly tied to in-game currency now, which has a value. He's saying that the XP boost costs more RP than the RP value of in-game currency you gain from using it, which makes it useless after level 30. You're better off just buying what you want with RP than buying an XP boost to level up and use BE.

I just buy a 3 day boost and lol up like 5 times lol

Well yea BE system is garbage and so are those "boosts"

Violet Fields1 votes

The funny thing is, that XP boost thing is basically paying for blue essence, however, we never had to pay for blue essence before so how is this any better?

Jerry SeinfeId1 votes

No, you got levels. Just cuz they don't do anything past 30 doesn't mean you didn't pay for them.

XP boosts have existed for years and were just as useless back then. So were IP boosts imo. You can get all of it for free, why waste rp on anything you can endlessly get for free.

if you wanted BE why would you buy an XP boost and not an event pass? now, let me run some numbers at you since you are upset that you did not get what you thought you were buying. Event passes. each loss is worth 6 tokens. each win is worth 12 token. average 6 and 12= (6+12)/2 or 18/2= an average of 9 tokens per game if your WR is at 50%. a random champ shard(which ONLY pulls from the 4800 and 6300 BE champ pools) costs 50 tokens. so to get a champ shard on a 50% WR you would need to play 50/9 games, or approximately 6 games. a 4800 BE champ shard is worth 960 BE when it is dusted, and 6300 shards are worth 1260 when dusted. that means 6 games average will yield 960-1260 BE. or, per game you average 150-210 BE. for a losing streak you will still gain 6 per game, so you will play 9 games to an average BE gain of 100-150 BE per game. however, a hot streak at 12 tokens per game will only take ~4 games to gain a champ shard, so you average comes up to 240-415 BE per game. that is not counting the FWotD. and it is working under the assumption that you are simply dis-enchanting all of the shards you get. however if you are working smartly and efficiently, you will not be dis-enchanting all of the shards you pick up, only shard for champs you already own or duplicate champ shard for champions you do not believe you will want to mastery out in the near future. the reason for this is because champ shards something like double in value if they are upgraded, in the the form of heavily discounting that amount of BE needed to gain the champ they represent. i believe upgrade costs are 2780 and 3760 respectively, a nice discount from 4800 and 6300 BE. so, in the very worst case scenario, you own no champs in the 4800 or 6300 brackets. and the exchange that would take the most shards overall, dis-enchanting 4800 shards in order to upgrade a 6300 shard. since you get 960 BE per 4800 shard you dust, and you need 3760 in order to upgrade your 6300 shard that mean you need 3760/960 shards in your worst case scenario. which comes out to about 4 champion shard or will need to play at the maximum, 36 games, so if you count in the approximately 2500 BE discount, that means you gained 960(4)+2500[value] over the course of 36 games MAX. which comes out to a minimum of 3740+2500[value] or 6240 total value. over the course of 36 games[maximum mind you], you got a total average value of nearly 200 BE per game, and that is if you are so amazingly bad at the game or have such poor RNG luck that you lost 36 games in a row. however, if you win at least one, FWotD is worth 3 of those losses, and the win itself is worth two. so if you got on a fat hot streak, you actually looking at about 12 wins to get the same value. over doubling the total average value gained to nearly 400 BE [total value] gained per game. and this pass comes with 200 tokens anyway all the tokens you would have gained if you had it since day one, as well 4 event ords, and last for like a month. for like 15 bucks. and i swear every month nowadays seems like it has a new event during it, if there are no holidays then they just make one up, like versus or the current one project. if you want a fat BE boost, buy a pass and see how hilariously easy making BE actually can be nowadays. i played back in the day, and this pass is easily double what we got per game back in the day. i am more then happy with MY purchase, because i thought about it, looked into it, and made an informed decision buying what i wanted, which was a hilariously easy way to earn champs without spending a fortune on the RP to buy them. case in point, this event i spent 15 bucks and have unlocked 4 4800 champs, 3 6300 champs, and have another almost 20 champ shard waiting in the wings, all for the low price, of about 15 bucks. PS riot if you read this, thanks for the event passes, ik some people give you all flak for it but they are awesome plz keep them coming 😁.

the ONLY purpose of exp boosts is leveling to 30. i thought this was obvious?

in fact, you spend even less money getting to ranked with a fresh account than you would before BE. before BE, you'd have to buy XP and IP boosts to get to ranked. Now, you get enough BE to go into ranked with only XP boosts
