Elo Hell Tips?

Some may say this doesn't exist. I feel this is heinously ignorant to say so as League is a team-based game. It requires cooperation and communication or you'll lose. Saying that your individual skills will account for how your team plays out is such a horrendous statement it undermines one of the main attributes Riot made league about - being with your community.

See, playing low elo games repeatedly I've come to realize that I'm not naturally a bad player. I have the skills, utilities, and thinking. However, I've found that in Bronze and Silver the issues are always the teams.

Let me clarify.

Say you have a group of Mastery Level 7 players, including yourself, on your team all with their best champions. Surely, they've been on a winning streak. Yet, their synergy is horrible. This will make their individual skills useless as they do not know how to cooperate or work as a team. We'll start off with losing a teamfight in the jungle, or your jungler fails to start ganking/taking good gank opportunities.

But you can still come back right?

See, the thing with low elo is...

...Teams are too heavy to carry unless we can drag it out to late game - which is usually impossible not because the enemy team is too skilled but they are too fed and have better synergy.

The past 3-6 games I've played without gold+ players have been horrendously bad and I lost two of my first ranked games in a row. I was saddened by how arrogant and demanding players were. They want you to conform to their way of thinking and playing. They don't want to help out if it doesn't get them a kill. They don't want to stop chasing even when pinged. They don't listen to recommendations. They don't know when to stop pushing lanes and farm. They don't know how to wave control. So many things...

And the most common positions making these mistakes are: Jungler, ADC, and Support.

Why is that the case? That's because those three positions require the most team synergy. If they screw up, the game might as well be because someone had a second Thanksgiving.

Mid and top-laners are usually at fault if they let their opponents roam which is a big issue in low elo. Nobody pings, talks, wards. It gets very screwy when bot lane gets ganked by a mid/top-laner due to failure of communication + the worries of a jungler ganking. Or they have their team push one lane unexpectedly and people decide it's a great time to just split-push at mid and top.

Bronze and Silver are not leagues to me. They are "hold your own ground and KS so you can leave this league as fast as possible". However, let's place myself in a platinum/gold/diamond match. I'm unranked but somehow I'm doing exceptionally well and carrying?

This just doesn't add up and I did my investigations. It was the teamwork and communication. The warding and the jungling. The teamfights and the positivity.

So to all you guys stuck out there in elo hell. Props to you all for sticking it out.

Please, let's teach people more about teamfighting, warding, communication, wave control, last-hitting, etc. These are things low elos often forget and are a major reason why people are stuck. Due to their teams.

However - on the bright side, here's an easy route.

Play support and pray to god your ADC doesn't make incompetent decisions - and you should be good to go if you play the role well. I find that as long as my ADC is decent, I can follow up easily - get them to survive and help them control lane/avoid deaths.

Then mid-game they hyper-carry and I get 45 assists. <3

edit: read everything if you want a POV on your situation if you can't even read a few paragraphs, idk how you can expect to become better at anything.

In the last part, did you just suggest playing support in low elo? cause I feel like thats the worst way to climb out, you already admitted that low elo is incompetent in your eyes.. so why would you place it within their hands to support them?

Secondly.. Sure it is a team based game, but every time a smurf appears within low elo, they're usually within a 70% win rate give or take.. that is if they are the real deal.

So it is possible to carry 4 brain dead teammates, basically because it's vice versa.. the enemy team is also the same MMR, so it's very likely they are in the same situation.

The only problem is that, low elo is where all the higher MMR smurfs go to, well to do their smurfing.

Literally every other elo, goes to yours, to stomp.

The only way you can get out of that hell, is to become as good as a smurf player.

It sounds pretty absurd, but even training yourself towards that goal, you'll be able to hold a 52-55% win rate most of the time. You won't be getting smurfs EVERY game.

Mentality is super important with climbing and becoming better in general. If you're going to cry like a baby about it and do nothing, NOTHING will happen in the end. There's a reason why people are in low elo, and it's basically this mentality that's preventing them from improving.

Now you're gonna fire back at me " WELL HOW CAN I IMPROVE WITH THE WORST PLAYERS IN THE GAME? " " WELL HOW CAN I IMPROVE IF SMURFS ARE LITTERED THROUGHOUT MY ELO ? "

There won't be smurfs every game.

And also as for learning the game, you don't require to play against insanely hard opponents to learn. You're at an entry skill level in league, there are a reason guides exists, for players who aren't fully evolved at their craft. Right now, you're barely coming out of the shell of your egg. I'm not trying to insult you, this is just how it is, and people need to realize that sometimes people are just bad and sometimes you're apart of that group.

Since you're at such a low point within the rank ladder. Things are still primitive and basic, meaning that you probably don't even have a lot of skill to begin with.

So working on ' skill ' is more or less taking step 1 and going through the fundamentals , which by the way sticks with you throughout Bronze - Master.

There is LOADS of information out there on how to do things better as a ranked player and if you can't even do the simple task of gathering data and sorting it out into a training schedule.. you can't ever hope to get out of anything in life, including ranked.

The reason you hear the same things over and over again, is because some things are just true.

Everyone goes through the same thing as you when advancing in their ranked career, you are no a special snowflake sir.

Everyone is playing the same game.

** Also pro tip.. Learning the game and refining your skills in 100 games, is better than spamming 800 and getting no where.

Like Valkrin said, practice does not make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect.

It more or less means to practice efficiently, instead of blindly repeating something in hopes you'll reach perfection. **

Just be humble man.. idk why every Silver Bronze Gold player, have it in their heads that they've got the game figured out, but in the next minute turn around to boards and claim nothing is their fault in their games.

I hope you can get something out of my time spent typing just for you.

I was in your place before too, but I never thought to blame my teammates, it was just always that I needed to work on myself more. Watching streamers have drilled this into me and honestly it's working.

I've been Diamond for 3 seasons and only this season am I trying to go for my next tier in Master.

I've also smurfed a lot and from experience, everything I wrote here should shimmy your way out of ' elo hell '

For me I started playing mobile splitpush duelists like Shyvana Camille Fiora. This way I can get objectives easily and if someone tries to stop me I know I can kill them easily. Or if many of em come I have an easy escape. You can go I had some games where I had like 3-4 kills+assists as Fiora but won anyway because I took like 6 towers on my own while my team was doing the usual ''run down mid, die, rinse, repeat'' that most people in silver tend to do instead of getting objectives.

Otherwise, When your team is decent it's easy to make picks when you play as one of those champions and to take out the most fed/skilled/problematic opponent when you have the occasion.

I build tanky so that I am unkillable and have insane dueling potential.

item 3748 item 3025 item 3071 item 3065 item 3742 item 3111 /item 3047 On Fiora/Camille (switch to triforce instead of cleaver+iceborn if ahead)

item 1416 item 3153 item 3748 item 3742 item 3065 item 3111 /item 3047 On Shyvana

He's not as good a smurf to pull these things off I think.

But what I'm saying is that, he should work to achieve this level of gameplay.

In low elo, this kind of stuff will net you a decent winrate, and with that you'll be climbing.

As long as it's above 50%, you're climbing.

Instead of trying to be with a team, I went completely solo with Ryze on my alternative account. Carrying the weight seems easier than I though. :P

Arigato.

I'm stuck in elo hell too.

Keep thinking that and it will always be your reality.

You will argue that I just don't understand because I'm ranked higher.

But I've been in your elo before and I also started out as a not so great player.

Good luck with that though, mentality is a tough thing, especially when people are stubborn, it's just painful to watch.

The difference between low and mid to high elo is actually pretty simple, unfortunately it'll always be there, even doubly so for those players who invest time in trying to learn the game by watching streams, you tube, read guides etc. Allow me to explain!

Higher elo players understand the simple rules that keep deaths and throws down to a minimum. Take the dragon for example, it's 'guarded' by a duo lane and easily collapsed on by the mid lane. Once the bot lane turret has fallen the team presence and wards should shift to the top side of the map. By taking control and gaining vision you're setting your team up for a baron and or top turret, especially if the enemy team can be seen on the opposite side of the map.

Another example is low elo players and their love for running it down mid, especially when ahead while high elo players rotate and collapse. Each tower in each lane not only offers team gold but provides that much more pressure against the enemy team from winions.

One last thing that's usually the biggest problem in low elo and what most people who come here to the boards crying "I was 25-10 and we still lost!", low elo players and especially fed ones love to go wandering solo blindly on the enemy side of the map. Not only that but with 25 kills you probably have very little assists and your team is starving so when you inevitably die while running around feeling like a god you're leaving your starving Ethiopian children defenseless and open for a quick siege while your death timer slowly clicks down and THAT is why you're 25 kills meant nothing when your team lost.

Turrets, baron, dragon, CS, buffs > kills

Elo hell doesn't exist. I guarantee you that if I played on your account I'd be back in gold in no time. I've climbed out of bronze and silver multiple times with little issue. If elo hell existed then people who made smurfs wouldn't have absurd win rates. If elo hell existed then elo boosting wouldn't work. The problem isn't with your team its with you. The sooner you accept that the sooner you'll climb out of bronze.

The biggest reason why people falsely believe elo hell exists is they don't play enough games. Yes, there are going to be some games that you can't carry. There are going to be some games where your teammates feed or rage or afk. But there are also going to be games where the enemy team sucks. There are also going to be games where an enemy feeds or rages or afks. Over a large sample size of games the number of times your team sucks and the number of times the enemy team sucks will even out and the games that will determine whether or not you have greater than a 50% win rate will be the games where the teams are evenly matched and your performance will directly impacts the outcome of the game.

Your statement that its impossible to carry because league is a team game is absurd. Take your favorite team sport (football, soccer, basketball, etc.) All of them require teamwork and communication. If I have two randomized teams of 7 year olds playing that sport then over a large sample size of games each team will win ~50% of the time. However, what if I put one 11 year old on one of the teams? If I did that then the team that had the 11 year old would win much more than 50% of the time. Likewise, if I put a 14 year old or an 18 year old on a team that team's win rate would go higher and higher. Even though they are team sports that require tons of communication if you have one person who is much more skilled on your team your win rate over a large sample size of games will be much, much higher.

The same is true for league. Bronze is like 7 year olds playing sports. They understand the basics but they make tons of mistakes that are easily exploitable. If you truly were a much better player then you would get massively fed off these mistakes. You should have the highest cs and be the highest level in the game. If you're playing a carry champion you should have the highest damage dealt to champions. Looking at your match history none of these things are true. You average like 3 cs/min. You frequently have the lowest damage in the game and the highest deaths on your team.

I'm not saying this to be a dick. I'm not saying this to try and demean you. I'm saying this because I was exactly where you were once. I didn't understand why I was in bronze and I couldn't get out. I didn't realize HOW BAD I WAS AT THE GAME. I promise you that you are exactly where you belong and when you deserve to be a higher rank it will come easily and naturally.

I encourage you to keep playing, watch high elo players play, watch your own replays to analyze your mistakes, and seek out coaching.
