How many defensive items do you need to actually survive in this game???

So I had this match with Garen, 3/5 of their team was AP( including Cho Gath). I was 24-6 at some point with 21 kills killing spree, but once late game came their team starting melting me.

I had Cleaver, Sterak, Merc Treds, Adaptive, Abyssal and Spirit Visage and Iron Pot.

So 4 MR items, 1 anti-burst item(Sterak) and another HP item(Cleaver).

No one had a Void staff, but with the help of Blitz and Cho to lock me down Elise and Annie were just bursting me from 5.300 HP.

How is it even possible to survive in this game when they dont itemize against you, you itemize properly and still die?

funny thing is damage reduction is the best defense in the game, except vs true dmg.

Even if you build 6 defensive items you'll still explode.

Can't say much in this case since it sounded like a 1v3 or 1v4. Plus Cho with his E and Ult doeant care about your resistances.

I will say in general, the game feels like building defense is pointless. It's why people don't even play Malphite as a tank anymore, they just go full AP.

To successfully survive teamfight for as long as 6 seconds you ~~need~~ might want to play tank-tryndamere.

Sounds stupid Plays stupid But if by gods luck enemy ADC is a halfbrain (they usually are), then they will still focus you out of habit Steal their... what was that.. 70AD worth of items for several seconds, annoy and disrupt them Press R when you got less than 1k HP to survive some bullshit crits they might pull out of their ass And if by gods luck your team aren't made of halfbrains (they... usually are) then you win Otherwise prepare to receive 4 reports and heavy load of chat filled with raw toxic shit aimed at your person.

Tank-Yi works too, but needs alot more gold and at least 1 enemy with half HP, preferably not the tank. You simply: alpha + whack (trinity), then alpha + whack, then alpha + whack, then alpha + whack, then alpha + whack,

And once you run out of mana and your enemies will be low on sanity, you can finally press R, turn on your true damage and play like any ordinary YI melting faces right and left.

Or.... Just press R from the start and melt faces anyways.

4 people spend their shit taking you out - and if you say Blitz and Cho locked you down, it was probably taking place over a longer time window (6+ seconds).

Cho has %-HP damage on E and his R nuke (which probably did some 900+ damage at that point in the game, depending on Cho's stacks). Elise has %-HP damage on Q and fairly good sustained damage with skitterlings in spiderform, especially with spider W. Annie has Tibbers, who does a ton of damage both with his autos and his burn aura if you can't evade.

I am not surprised that they killed you - no champion is supposed to last long when tanking 4 people with all their abilities. Rather, the question is: What did your team do with the time and opportunity you bought them?

You can't survive simply by counterbuilding. Riot has seen to it that defensive scaling offers very little power on its own. You basically have to either dodge incoming damage, mitigate it through shields and/or innate damage reduction, or kill them before they kill you (mainly this one).

Therefore, if you want to easily win games, it would behoove you to pick champions that rely as little on tank itemization as possible to do their jobs.
