EXP Converted to IP At Level 30

Disclaimer, I am not the person that originally thought of this, that credit goes to Semmaka (EUW) and as such this is going to be a copy paste of his/her post to try and get Riot's attention about this great idea to help players with a lack of IP actually be able to buy things. This idea in today's game will also help newer players that reach level 30 (due to the EXP required being cut in half) get runes and champions that aren't just the cheapest of the cheap. Here is the post : After a game of league, before LVL30, you get IP and XP. After LVL30 you lose half of those rewards, because you gain the same amount of IP but no XP. What if after LVL30 the XP you would have gotten is added to the IP you gain? It might mean some people get to buy runes/rune pages faster possibly allowing them to play more roles rather than 2 at any given time. It might not be the best argument for the cause but I still think it would be a good idea to add the XP to the IP.What do you think? Pros/Cons? For/Against?

It seems like a solid idea but Riot might question whether they would lose RP sales with more ip going into lvl 30 accounts. It seems like a good idea but league is a freemium game so there does need to be some grinding.

As long as Riot still pumps out skins, boosts, bundles, and sales they won't see a drop in RP purchases. If there is then it would super minor, but at the same time if we are gaining more IP then whatever conversion rate the IP boost uses will give more IP meaning more players might actually spend more RP for the IP boosts.

Yes, but there are issues with that particular freemium model.

I mean, for crying out loud, 6k IP for a rune page? 13k JUST to change my display name? Those are a bit overboard and the only reason i still buy RP.

I would love some quests to do while in a match. And you´d be rewarded with really cheap RP stuff(like i dunno, 2/4/6/8/10/12 hour IP boost, maybe) or more IP, depending on the quest.

I'd be very cautious about adding quests to the game, because suddenly you might see people doing quests instead of actually playing. It can't be in Ranked because it would distract you from the game, you'd also have to add very thought out quests. No "get X kills" or "get X CS" because then you'd have people just chasing kills while raving about KS and people just AFK farming all game. It probably would have to be out of game quests, like playing a specific role or even faction (like they have in HotStorm), but then you'd get a bunch of first time junglers with the "don't care if we lose, I just need 1 game with Jungle for my free boost" mindset. It's a very fine line to walk.

They wouldn´t be anything that specific.

More centered around objectives. Like, finish a match with x dragon buffs or don´t lose x towers. Y'know, that kinda thing.

I know it´s a risky thing, but still. Could be a nice addition.

To be fair those were switched from RP only as an IP sink. I feel like additional IP might be overkill with the crafting system just coming out. I understand there is a lot of content to unlock, but I would rather see Riot not give us a bunch more just to take it away. Although I could go for some more double(or more) IP weekends, or maybe increased key drop rate weekends. Also I expect to see chest and keys given out as incidental thank you gifts, like for a year without chat restriction, Christmas, new years, or whatever, they have given out mystery skins and RP in the past so why not.

Cool idea, but would cost riot money, so it probably won't be implemented

we need an ip sink not a buff to ip income.

That might work for you, someone I'm assuming owns all champs, but as for myself I'm still trying to get all of them. Would love an ip boost. And then somewhere to sink ip when I get them all.

Only the people who own everything IP related need a sink, that is at most is 3 or 4% of the playerbase. I've played the game for 3 years straight almost every day, I still have rune pages I need to buy, I still have runes I need to buy, and a lot champions left to buy. So think about that for a bit, a player that has played 3 years straight still has a lot of things that need bought, it's ridiculous that is even a thing. A MMO is understandable because of all of the things you need to do in them, but a MOBA shouldn't take this long. That means the new players that reach level 30 within a month won't have anything to look forward to except a ridiculously long grind that shouldn't happen.

This post is so funny because summoner exp isnt worth anything, therefore it would be converted into +0 ip

LaserDeathBlade1 votes

Yeah but then champs would just cost more

I don't think it'd need to be a 1 for 1 conversion of XP to IP*, but even half or some moderate boost would be nice. The major issue is that this is generally just asking 'please inject more IP into the system'. While I think the game would be healthier if all IP purchases were just freely available for everyone full stop, that's not as good a business model for Rito. Such an injection would also dampen the ability for 'IP sinks' to exist in the game, because you would get even 'more' IP.

*This is primarily because I literally do not remember how much XP you actually get, and your 'xp-to-ip' might more than double the current IP gains.

IP rates have been nothing but nerfed since the game was released. If they decided to convert exp into IP for level 30 accounts, I'm sure they would nerf regular IP rates to compensate, just hurting low level accounts and making it net neutral for max level.

Never going to happen. The only thing I could see being reasonable is if they converted whatever extra XP you earned from 29 ->30 into IP. It would also be nice to have any leftover XP boosts converted into IP boosts as well. Though, that may already happen and I just don't know about it.

Let's be real. There's a 0% chance of this happening.

Riot isn't just about to double IP gains. At all. Period.

still got nothing to do with my IP....

Llanite1 votes

Won't be approved because you ask Riot to give you IP while you give them back nothing.

Question from Riot: What's in it for ME?

Parceval1 votes

The entire Rune system needs to be reworked. I'm hoping it'll happen season 7.

They are hoping you donate. I'm sorry to say, but, don't.
