Best counter to Darius?

How exactly do I counter him? Nothing I have for top lane works.

Gnar completely sh*t on darius. Even if you somehow get grabbed you have a mobility skill.

Quinn but she kinda bullies all melee to begin with, and she's not a team-friendly pick as top lane.

Fiora Riven if you outplay darius.

Pantheon your stun allows you to avoid outer area of darius Q, and his auto gets blocked by your passive so you trade favorably. Or if you buy item 2033 you can just poke darius out of lane.

Illaoi leap in to avoid outer area of Q, pull out spirit, do censored stuff.

P.S. I could be wrong. I'm just naming opponents I had difficulty dealing with when I played darius, maybe I'm just bad.

Kayle Kennen Lissandra Ryze Swain Teemo Tryndamere can all kite and beat darius in lane.

Renekton would be a skill match up, Galio i think might be a good option due to his tankyness and damage reduction he now has .

Darius hook range is only 450, if Teemo walks up to auto, Darius can inch forward slightly and e him to his death.

I've always said this, Teemo is a shit pick into Darius.

I also DON'T think that Galio is a good option. Darius benefits from extended trades and none of Galio's kit shortens trade durations. Rather he gets into Darius's face. :^|

its not that you would try to fight darius,,, but if darius tries to go in on galio with his damage reduction and shields it would be harder for him to kill him in lane... is my point...

teemo vs darius is a skill match up... ideally teemo should win do to dot, blind and his range and his movefast...

Galio's shield only prevents magic damage, of which Darius has 0. Galio shield is irrelevant in the match-up.

And the point is Darius doesn't care, he out-damages Galio and doesn't care what Galio does since he can't easily disengage from the fight.

Ideally Teemo gets unironically shafted by a plethora of melee top laners. There is no skill in the Darius v. Teemo match-up except how often Teemo avoids dying.

Either don't get hit by q at all, or trade with him so you only get hit by the handle. Don't do extended trades. He lacks mobility so he can be kited easily.

I main Riven, and Darius is a skill match up, although not really in Riven's favor.

That's simply not true. Taking Stormraiders makes the match up a lot easier for Riven, but a good Darius will bait Riven's engage with a Q, auto her as she fast combos, which should get him to 2 stacks. When Riven dissengages, Apphrehend + auto + W gets you to 4 stacks, and if Riven has no Stormraiders, that's an easy 5 stacks and a ton of Bleed damage on Riven even if you cant use that extra AD any other way, or a fully amped ult.

If you want an specific champ and if u are in lower elo i would suggest Maokai why? because the tree is just so god damn tanky and with your ult u can safe yourself from the damage of Darius' ult or Yorick just poke him with ur ghouls and he is also a fun champion to use.

well the thing is maokai vs darius is mao you flat out dont want to trade and fight early. you want to just be passive and farm as much as possible... if darius engages on you use your q and w to disengage , and that would be considered a short trade... some of the best things to do vs darius is flat out dont let him get a kill... he starts to fall off out side of lane if he dont snowball in lane... and maokai scales really well as the game goes with the items that benefit him. so 1-6 its in favor of darius... 7+ as mao is where you start to out scale him not only with damage if you build a lil and his tankyness and utility he brings to a team and teamfight.

Darius's ult does True Damage, so Mao's ult doesn't do jack shit against it. If you're at least below 50% HP & starting to get 5 bleeds, you need to gtfo hella soon.

hmm alright then i was wrong...

cuz according to how its describe that it would still reduce the damage by 20% ... however when you do fight him with ult... it will reduce the damage you take as you fight as he gets to the point to want to ult... so it makes your survive-ability better by reducing the damage to that point

be that as it may... ive only lost to a darius once as maokai ... and he was diamond ... and my asshole still hurts from that game

the thing is in this game, you cannot take text descriptions for granted. A lot of descriptions are misleading compared to how things are coded. In this case, I know that it suggests all non-turret damage, but true damage cannot be reduced by "anything", the only thing you can reduce is the base damage output (like decreasing darius's ad in this case).

Pride is Darius' biggest counter.

Think about it. He has all this power, and will either use it or lose an opportunity to snowball. If you bait his Q and avoid getting hit, he pushes the wave. Then you have the wave at your turret. Bonus points if you can freeze the wave.

So what now? Well, immobile Darius is now pushed up. He either backs off and loses XP or opens himself up to a gank. You just denied him gold and experience.

It is rare for a Darius to back away from a fight. Use this to your advantage. Say your jungler or mid laner are going to gank you. Open yourself up to an E and let him do his thing, but instead of running from his Q go toward him. You denied him a stack and the heal. You can either apply your CC/damage now or feign a retreat, likely baiting his W because he wants those juicy stacks. Enter your ally. Be careful not to let Darius get his passive unless you can finish him off before he utilizes it.

Remember that a Darius that cannot survive in fights is USELESS. If he's behind, he is FUCKED. If he has someone to enable him like Lulu, it might not be as bad for him, but juggernauts (except Illaoi) have to work their asses off to come back from behind because they have nothing to bring to a fight another can't bring better.

So basically Darius is his own worst enemy.

Fiora, Pantheon, Jax & Gangplank give me the most trouble as Darius. Of course there are ranged champs too, Vayne/Quinn especially will destroy him, Gnar is really good too!

Extended trades = No-no Within Q range/Not in safe minion wave = no-no Not building armor = Do it m8, u wont His ult does 350~ true damage at level 6 with full stacks so unless you're really low you'll be fine Darius Q is his bread and butter, without it he's just all auto attacks, an AA reset, and passive.** DONT LET HIM LAND Q ** no Q = no sustain

Dont pick gnar. Gnar does not counter darius after all the nerfs he received. His autos early game put him in range of darius Q.

Teemo is gimping your team because teemo is a fucking worthless champ.

A well played riven dicks on darius any time of day. A well played fiora can survive lane phase and dick on darius later game. A well played jayce can destroy darius.

If you pick a tank, prepare to concede cs.

Unconventional pick for top lane but Karma completely shits on him. He prob will rush an early Spirit Visage but just buy a Void Staff and screw him up. Karma is ranged, has a shield to reduce damage from Darius's abilities and passive, and her movement speed and tether help kite the hell out of juggernauts. You can auto attack him all day taking advantage of your passive. Not to mention she brings utility to the team, but of course the top lane meta has always been around needing a tanky frontliner.

the best counter for darius (or as i call him daren) is someone with a lot of HP and physical damage since darius does true damage and will likely build magic resist from spirit visage. armor is pointless with %penetration items and i think darius also has armor penetration in his kit. not to mention most darius players go for attack speed+black cleaver in order to apply their passive more effectively.

I guess but swain feels better than Vladimir since he does extremely well against bruisers and has a stronger early game than Vladimir. I feel like Darius could bully Vladimir early game since Vladimir probably has one of the weakest early game of all champions.

Kayle used to be a hard counter to him back then, I am not really sure about now but your ult can basically counter his execute ult which can help you easily win a 1v1, not to mention she is hydrid damage and even then shreads defences pretty well but again that was back then idk about now since his rework and keystones.

If you learn riven she can beat him in lane. its pretty high skill tho
