Renekton needs buffs

http://na.op.gg/champion/renekton/statistics/top 32nd of 54 toplane champs key takeaways - even in sub 25 min games where he should be THE toplaner to beat, he's ranked 30th. That's like going late game as fiora or jax and not making top 50% of toplaners for winrate. Which would be utterly absurd and get them immediate massive buffs. But nope, we somehow can't see fit to give an early game champ proper power advantage over scaling champs in the early game? And post 40 min, his winrate completely tanks.

Legit the only reason he wins any games is due to the experience of the people playing him, the synergy of his basic abilities, and the fact that people tend to play around him early since he has kill pressure and cc to set up ganks; left 1v1 or 1v2 in lane, he's not gonna even be top 32 of 54 toplane champs.

http://champion.gg/champion/Renekton/Top?league= in the bot 1/4 of toplane champs in an early game, quick win meta we currently have. Again, an early game champ should be easily in top 1/4 of champs for winrate in their role if the meta caters to them; renekton isn't even in the top half.

https://lolalytics.com/ranked/worldwide/diamond/plus/champion/Renekton/ 50% winrate basically. Highest ranked players (known renekton 1-tricks) have about 56% winrate. Which isn't actually saying much. Because if you get a 2v1 lane early with jungler setting you up to carry, you can look great on anything. It's like comparing average riven vs adrian and boxbox, etc. Obviously the latter ones will have higher winrate - not just due to skill, but also because... omg I have player x in my game, I know if I gank for them, we'll both probably get fed and win. Sure, the reverse can also happen, but not as likely and their teammates won't just stand by and let it go unpunished. And even considering all this - 56% winrate for a champ by it's 1-tricks in a meta that is 100% theoretically designed for said champ isn't that impressive when you can see overall winrates for other champs reaching the same percent or higher... note that's OVERALL winrate - not much higher winrate of 1-tricks on said champ.

Q needs better base damage. Even with the last buffs you gave to it, it does less damage than most other champs level 1 ability and has a longer cd.

W should get a scaling stun duration. It's maxed last, so it doesn't even hurt opponents in laning phase if you change this.

E needs a shorter cd at max rank. It should be comparable to riven e - not basically 2x as long. For one, it offers less because the damage is minimal, you need to be in range to damage an enemy to get your 2nd dash or riven (and most other champs - jax q, fiora q, etc.) cover more ground than you do and they have more or better benefits from the spell. Your slice damage vs riven's shield; riven's shield is better except for very early into game. Your damage and gapclose vs fiora's q damage and the safety to retreat that she gets from it or to pursue? Fiora is better. Your slice vs jax's q? Jax's q has more range and more options on how to use it.

R needs to scale off total ad instead of ap or it should give bonus resistances. Look at aatrox and the stupid amount of free bonuses he gets - tons of attack range, burst damage, and tons of attack speed. Nasus - halves the cd of his damage ability, gains similar hp to renekton, and resistances. Fiora gets a massive amount of healing, movespeed to chase enemies down, and guaranteed 50+% of an enemy's hp bar in damage for hitting them 4x. And the duration of her ult combined with the movespeed makes kiting her out nearly impossible for most champs. You can hug the wall, but that still leaves her getting nearly guaranteed 3 vitals. Which largely means you cannot fight her thanks to the true damage and healing she gets from this - plus the fact you have to hug the wall. And it's not like this actually requires a bunch of skill from fiora. It arguably requires no more (possibly less) skill than getting off a full renekton combo vs a fiora or jax.

His kit simply lacks the proper early game power to be what he's supposed to be while also leaving him to massively fall off compared to other kits as the game lasts longer. Other champs can easily avoid being punished in any significant way by him early game, often have outplay potential (if outplay is even required) to give them kill pressure on him early, and simply outscale him by far. Compare this to a fiora or jax or nasus (to use examples; not to make a cumulative list) mid/late game and... the same cannot be said for the renekton player... ever. There is no outplaying jax or nasus or fiora 1v1. There is no pressure of... if they mess up on even just one small thing, the renekton can turn the tables and 1v1 them when they're at the part of the game where they should have the innate advantage. Either the same needs to be done when the tables are flipped and it's early game or... renekton needs better scaling in his kit so that he does have that outplay 1v1 potential mid/late.

Again, sub 50% winrate and being ranked in the bottom quarter of champs for his role in an early game meta shows... there needs to be some major improvements for this "early game" champ.

Trust me, all top laners need some love special Urgot right now, atleast Renekton got more items to pick from and more runes to pick from. And yet you are ranked 19 on top champions while Urgot 33...

Have to agree on this as a M5 Renekton, he has good damage its just that he doesn't scale to well in the late game, his stun is nothing compared to roots from Lux or stuns from Veigar

If we buffing Ren, then we better be buffing Riven too. Neither needs buffs right now. Regardless, Renekton is in a pretty balanced spot. Wait for Riot to smooth the game over for now.

Renekton is not in any way in a balance spot right now. He is mediocre at everything which leaves him with no actual strengths beyond the synergy of his basic abilities. His damage is matched early game by champs that vastly outscale him. His durability likewise. His sustain likewise. Legit at no point in the game do you beat someone 1v1 just because you are renekton. You only win via jg ganks early or by pure, repeated outplays early into a snowball.

Meanwhile, there is literally 0 outplay required of something like jax or fiora at 2.5+ items. The win because they are SUPPOSED to outscale - no skill required. Just don't completely screw up - minor mistakes and you still destroy 1v1. Well if that's how it is for scaling champs who are supposed to SCALE into winning 1v1 (note - those aren't the only champs; just good examples everyone should be familiar with), the why the heck does a champ that is SUPPOSED to 1v1 abuse enemies early need to OUTPLAY several times early game to win a 1v1? Legit makes no sense. If that's what's required early game of renekton, then the same level of outplay should be required for a scaling fiora or jax to win the 1v1 mid/late on equal items.

Or to put it another way, cait should abuse vayne in laning phase and build a lead. But if vayne were capable of going even with cait in lane - no outplay required - and outscaled her so vastly in 1v1 and teamfight too, then what's the point of playing cait? How is she "balanced" fairly? It would make no sense to play her aside from enjoying the champ's kit even though it's underpowered. That is exactly what is the case with renekton right now. Equal in power early, get completely outscaled with 0 outplay potential. Which means either the scaling champ is overpowered (early) or renekton is underpowered and needs either a vastly stronger early game or better scaling - or some combination of the two.

renekton doesn't need a buff, he needs a rework. He suffers extensively from mobility creep and support itemization up to the point where he is straight up useless against certain comps. You basically have no carry potential post 15-20 mins mark aka once the first complete armor items start kicking in, unless you play full ad, something that needs certain coordination with your team during champion select because whenever you pick renekton all players presume that you will build tanky ad thus picking squishy jungle/support and leaving your team without front line. On the other hand, claiming you will be building full ad most of the times draws bad reactions from the rest of your team.

Full ad renekton relies too much on having flash up due to how clunky his dash is. You have no teamfighting potential without flash. This wouldn't be so bad as he is a fine splitpusher especially when he is snowballed but splitpushing also requires good communication

Lastly, the way top lane has evolved makes him unreliable in terms of building full ad as you really need an early gold advantage to draw the attention on to you. With the likes of sion, shen, camille, kled that are meta picks your snowballing potential is nearly non existent especially against the first two.

I've been a renekton main for over 5 seasons now. It's time for his kit to be updated because outside of the flash-os combos every 5 minutes in the case of full ad and the 2-3 man empowered E armor shred his impact in teamfights is next to non existent.

I agree - mobility is a problem and his e doesn't cut it regardless of how you build him. If you go tank, you aren't even tanky; jax or even camille can be just as tanky while actually having relevant damage; renekton cannot. If you go full ad or heavy ad, you basically need a flash engage and hope to 1-shot with your full combo. And you are left stupidly squishy which means whether or not you do 1-shot someone, you're probably dying unless only one opponent focuses you. And, you lack splitpush ability vs many champs - fighters, bruisers, and even some tanks. You need to basically outplay your opponent at every point in the game currently to gain any advantages; which is absurd that even during your supposed peak power portion of the game, you need to outplay champs that are in their weakest phase just to get an advantage while the same cannot be said for scaling champs later into the game.

With the right items and runes plus some smart outplay, you can definitely still win and even keep up with champs who SHOULD outscale you - to a point. But it is in no way balanced - the power level renekton gets compared to other melee fighters and bruisers top.

If anyone doesn't believe me, just look at this example from Korean challenger. Sure, renekton might have a passable winrate; however, look at WHY. Renekton in this video has great kda, but the reason is because he's essentially 2v1 all early game until he gets super fed. And even when he has a HUGE early advantage, you can see gp trading with him and going even w/o even having sheen. This just shows how completely underpowered renekton is 1v1 in toplane. 2v2 and 2v1 sure he's a monster, but so is just about anything 2v1. And just imagine the same scenario as this but with the gank intervention early reversed. Renekton dies early. Gp gets sheen to reneton's cloth armor and refillable potion or something like that. From this point on, renekton's lane is a lost cause. Even 2v2, they will not win. Anyone familiar with top lane and renekton especially could attest to the validity of what I am saying. For someone that's SUPPOSED to be so dominant 1v1 early, renekton is far underwhelming; merely going even in most cases and getting outscaled by virtually everything. It takes favorable jg intervention REPEATEDLY (like in this vid) or repeated major outplay to win as renekton right now. In an EARLY GAME meta at high elo. That should not be the case for an early game champ.
