Harvester of Sorrow or Creeping Death? Why not both?!!

I've been playing Mordekaiser nonstop ever since I started league around mid season three and the rework ruffled my feathers more than I'd like to admit. Don't get me wrong, I love most of the changes since they push him into the right direction of being a Hulking Heavy Metal Monster (HHMM) and Riot really succeeded in making him match the Juggernaut theme. BUT there are some flaws with the rework, namely the fact that even though Riot claimed he could still Solo his top/mid play's taken a huge hit. I'd be fine with them opening bot lane up for him to dominate but keeping his solo lane as fun as it has been should have been a no brainer. But I'm digressing!

We both know the old W, a dense shroud of heavy metal shards circling Mordekaiser's frame as he charged into the fight. It was a really powerful ability, granting him defensive stats, a continuous AoE damage field and was a great tool to stay alive in Teamfights as well as clearing out minion waves. What we got now is much stronger on paper, providing great AoE damage when the two fields meet, a HEAL, FULL EXPERIENCE and movement speed. It sounds better BUT it's restriction hinders it being utilized to its full potential when on your own. That's right, it not only makes his Solo lane utter hell but also makes you go "OH F*CK" whenever you want to get the movement speed, heal and Damage in a duel or want to brutally push out a minion wave.

Now we get to the juicy bit; Why can't Mordekaiser have BOTH skills? That's right! Make it a two part ability; If he casts it on himself he gets a defensive boost and the AoE and when used on allies he get all the added benefits of stronger AoE, Movement speed and a heal. It's a great way to make his Solo lane stronger by providing him with the shield gain, pushing power, damage and defensive steroids he needs when brawling with other Top laners and survive ganks.

It's ONE simple fix to make Mordekaiser Top/Mid viable while still having his fair share of glaring weaknesses that running him bot with a support would fix. Give us the OPTION to play him Bot as well as Top and Mid. Heck, maybe even Jungle! All in the name of #DIVERSITY and to give us former SoloKaiser mains ways to still play him in the lanes we know and love!

I really don't see why they can't just have it both ways. If cast on himself or on minions it'll give the old AoE damage and Resists on that target (maybe even a bit lowered) and if cast on a ally it'll give the current Movement speed, AoE and Heal. The numbers would probably have to be moved around but he'd be able to use it on his own again.

You know, it might actually make him viable Solo enough for people to like playing him there. Seriously, they reassured us he can still handle the solo lane but it's such a pain to pull off that you're better off playing bot. That's just horrendous by design. Never have I felt so bad for playing my Main in the role I played him ever since I started maining him.

I'd like to see Morde be played in a Solo lane again. Seeing he was the first champion I ever played in league, he has a special little place in my heart.

Have you considered how dull and uninteractive Morde is in a solo lane? Looking at it from that angle it's understandable why CertainlyT wanted to push him into a duo lane. The same goes for champions like Xin, who are quite dull when played in a solo lane. With a champion like that, it's understandable that they should be made weaker to discourage players from playing a playstyle which isn't as enjoyable to play against, and to some extent with.

That being said I agree that he should gain some benefit from his w in a solo lane, but I fear that giving him too much power may result in issues.

How is he any more interesting in a duo lane? The pattern's the same. Poke, farm, poke, farm, poke, farm.

He isn't, but the presence of another allied player makes the lane interesting at least.

The ally's just there to hide his glaring weaknesses and give him the edge to pull off his dirty strategy of gaining levels faster and utilizing his babysitter as a mean to get to his enemies. Mord's entirely balanced around being kited easily on his own and having to get into melee range, all issues his support can fix...

Very true, but as a morde player did you find it at all enjoyable facing someone who could just kite you for ages and constantly harass you without any punishment? I wouldn't find that fun at all. If this was done properly, then it would be that the support fixes morde's weaknesses, but if the support is outplayed then the weaknesses are far more prominent. Wouldn't be that great either way I feel, though.

Well before the rework Morde COULD function at medium range

If you were getting kited all you had to do was E the enemy and back off. You'd probably win the trade because of your high damage and shield gain

Now he really can't do SHIT against anyone who can kite

There are very few champs who can do that to a good Morde back when he was the Master of Metal.

Shield soaks up the poke from champs like Vel'Koz, and he can poke back against midrange mages.

There are exceptions, like Orianna's large damage or if Jayce manages to get a small lead in lane he can poke-rape you to death, but mostly Morde can deal with very long ranged champs if their poke is frequent but weak.

No, Morde's issue is more being forced to 2v1 the laner and jungler when you inevitably push too far. And personally I found that fun and challenging.

Yeah I don't know if that's really the One.

i mean, to get your support to go where you want it already takes some kind of Master of Puppets.
