He can be now, if a little clunky. His Q and E have AD scalings and his base AD is one of the highest in game making his synergy with
top notch. He can also take advantage of
items to a lesser extent, since that mana is going to waste. Luckily
has very little of it's gold cost allocated into mana, so it's not a huge loss to pick one up.
Real Talk: Ever since the nerf to
I've been buying another item to help Morde stick to people. It looks a lot like this
.
I know, I know, Doubleyou Tee Eff right? Let's break down it's stats:
- +45% Attack Speed - Quicker Qs means you have to stick to people for less time, last hitting is easier, towers fall quicker, and generating shields via Q hits is faster.
- +30% Crit - Remember when I said Morde had high base AD? That means he can use crit alright without building a lot of AD. Don't expect marksman or Yasuo level crit damage, but it's not going to waste either.
- +5% MS - Morde will take all the speed boosts you can give him.
- +7% MS and ghost if near an enemy - Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. 12% MS total and free ghosting? Kiting him just got a lot tougher.
- 12% DR from the people you hit - Morde will make use of that. The DR also applies to his shield, making it stronger.
I've been rushing PD first item (I know!), and building AD or tank items after that; no AP. The sheer amount of mixed damage Morde puts out like this means you don't need penetration of either kind to put a dent in people, including frontline tanks. You're also really tough to get away from, especially after tier two boots and a Stormraiders proc.
If you find you're still getting kited out somehow,
is basically cheating. All you have to do is land one auto on someone, and unless they dodge over a wall or take a Thresh lantern, they're getting run down. By a Morde. Hilarious and utterly frightening at the same time.
